Been around here for quite awhile and check in from time to time and wanted to give an update. We finished our 2nd summer season work camping at the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills. They were looking for some help managing their visitors services department and after much soul searching, discussion and looking at our miserable excuse for a bank account we decided that I should apply. We have been full time since 2009 and traveling/work camping since 2011. To make a long story shorter, I got the job of Senior Asst. Manager and Rudee is working full time in their gift shop. We initially were going to winter in the RV but found a deal on a house so we are putting down roots Custer, SD. We really love the area and are enjoying our new jobs (and benefits!). We love the area but wish our kids and grand kids were closer.
I will still be hanging around the forums, guess you can take the guy out of the RV but you can't take the RV out of the guy. As you travel through the area please let us know and we'll try to meet up, love meeting RV Dreamers!

Congratulations. Happy for you guys. Have been following your blog for a longtime and loved it.
This only reinforces my theory that full timing is always changing and evolving. Embrace it.

We all do things for different reasons! As you know mine is for health care! I found good VA care, close to shopping, a good RV park and met some great people a and friended a few. I have always had some good friends here on the forum! Custer SD is a part of my North West bucket list. 😁

Enjoy it! That's the one thing I have see happen over and over. People explore the country and for some unknown reason end up going back to the same place several times, and eventually put down some sort of roots. Its like a place just calls to you and you have to find out where it is.
See ya out there guys!
Do we dreamers get a camping discount at the monument park? LOL

Congratulations! Of all the places we have been so far that area is near the top of our list of places we could live if and when we put roots in somewhere.

Congrats on your new position Phil and hopefully you'll be hiring in 2016 :) That's one of the first areas we would like to head to when we start full-time in 2016. Really looking forward to visiting the Black Hills.....and hear some really great things about that area. I'm pretty sure our meager bank account will say we need to work for a while too, at least the first few years but you might as well enjoy where you are and what you're doing if you have too! It sounds like you both area so have fun! Take care and have a great 2015!

Hey Workinrvers, I see you have a 2011 Electraglide..........Cool. I have one too. Mine is a 2006 Electraglide Classic c/w Sidecar. It now only has 3000 kms. It was special ordered from the factory with that configuration. Harley no longer makes the factory sidecar set up. I also have a 2006 Streetbob. Love them Harleys.

you need to re-read my title Jim and Alie ..... Assistant as in "lower then a crabs belly". LOL
They do own a decent RV park next door called Heritage Village, all pull through 30/50 amp full hook ups. No wifi or cable but for less then $30 a night not a bad deal to be right in the middle of the Black Hills attractions.
Phil
ps: it is HDT friendly as well.

Congratulations Phil! Happy for you and Rudee.
We stayed at the Heartland CG in Hermosa for 3 or 4 days in July and loved the Black Hills. We liked Crazy Horse better than Mount Rushmore. Seemed like there was more to do. Met you at Crazy Horse when I bought a raffle ticket for the Harley drawing.
Good luck!

Congrats Phil and Rudee, sounds like things have worked out well for you after so many different challenges that you have faced.
Will definitely let you know if our travels take us back through SD, we loved the 2 weeks we spent there.

Congratulations!! We have assumed all along that we would eventually find a place and want to replant our roots. A big attraction for us with the lifestyle is the ability to find the perfect place. I think it's great you found a place you want to call home.
