Full-Timers: If you were to make a list of the top ten most useful items in your RV, what would they be?

Tool chest, wine, plastic storage bins, Progressive surge protector, silicone rescue tape, gps, spouse or something similar, did I mention wine?, a good road side assistance program, compressor, and of course the all important sense of humor.
You will need the last one often.

# 1 - spouse with a good sense of humor
# 2 - credit card with a large available credit line to cover surprises!
# 3 - duct tape to hold surprises together until #2 can be used to correct the surprise
# 4 - storage bins that hold a case of wine
# 5 - multimeter. This is a MUST HAVE even if you don't like wine.
# 6 - good gps, nice to have one that gives traffic updates near big cities
# 7 - back up monitor
# 8 - smart phone with good RVing apps
# 9 - hoses/cables in a variety of lengths
#10- ability to forgive yourself/spouse for not thinking of everything

I would have to ditto what many others have said (especially Lee and Trace since we have traded many ideas between us and a few others....)
1) Dyson slimline sweeper....(I started off with a small dirt devil canister...swore I wouldn't pay the price of the dyson, but convenience is fantastic and works great. I am amazed every time I vacuum...which is frequently because it's soooo easy!!)
2) Cell phone booster - We wouldn't have had any reception all summer without it!
3) Induction cooktop - Very rarely use our propane stove
4) Velvet cascading hangers - they are thin and allow us to store 4 items off of one hanger!!
5) Washer and Dryer - love the convenience
6) Portable gas grill....
7) Magna stacking cookware (uses small amount of storage space)
From the guy side:
8) Telescoping ladder
9) DC multimeter
10) Flash light head lamp (looks a little ridiculous...but very useful for cooking and dog walks in the dark!!)
Oh...and can't forget....
11) My telescopic marshmallow toaster!! (thanks Bill!!)

These are great! Especially the sense of humor comments. Our new to us rig does not have a Splendid and that is the next addition since the "smart TV" has just been installed!

I agree with the above lists - especially the following:
1) a most awesome spouse (sorry ladies - Bill is already taken!)
2) RUM! Bill would say BEER
3) dyson stick vacuum
4) stuff to make it feel like "home" such as pics of the kids/family, decorative pillows and rug, outside flag, chimes, etc
5) tools - including portable air compressor
6) tablecloth for picnic table and the clip thingys to hold it on
7) some type of water filter - either a whole house kind or at the least a Brita type
8) Wine
9) laptop/ smart phones
10) did I mention a great spouse? Oh - I did - but he is worth mentioning twice!
I'm sure there is more but between everyone's suggestions I think you get the idea
Not necessarily in this order. I am sure there are more important things but I need another cup of coffee.

One item not mentioned yet that we found REALLY handy: The awning rod.
It can:
1. Take in and out the awning.
2. When marked: It can measure the clearance needed for slides when parking.
3. Retrieve items (grocery bags) that have slid forward out of reach in the truck bed.
4. Unclog a toilet.
5. Help reach unreachable items everywhere.
6. Sweep under the side (inside) to retrieve small items located there.
7. Reach for an item under the camper.
It truly is "the best thing since sliced bread."
(We actually have two!!)

Also use it as a "Back Scratcher" too.
I have two also. I find mine real handy to reach under the coach to place and remove the plank board that I position under my levelers. My hydraulic levelers are (2)two at the rear and (1)one on the front in the center. The back ones I could reach by hand if I had to but the front is impossible.

3. Awning Rod (we use to open/close microwave vent)
4. Whole house water filter
5. Water Pressure Regulator
6. Homemade cribbing for under level legs
7. Level-up system
8. Tonneau cover for truck
9. Truck box (AKA hubby's garage)
10. Rooftop satellite system
They are not listed in order of importance, although really I can't imagine not having any of these items.

l'll toss in a couple items:
Magnetic metal strip for hanging knives on the kitchen wall.
Wire basket organizer that hangs on the kitchen wall, purchased from Container Store.
These 2 items really help keep my small kitchen organized & use up space on the wall that would otherwise be wasted.

Oh my! These are certainly some interesting responses! Thanks everyone. :). I never knew there were so many different uses for an awning rod either. I suppose necessity is truly the mother of invention. Does anyone else have items that do double duty or serve triple or more functions?

Just told Red after lunch today that the one thing I have not seen mentioned and that I'm so glad that I kept from the SB, is my food sealer. Since there's only the two of us, I'm always freezing extras for later meals. I also buy chicken in large quantities and divide into smaller packs, along with other cuts of meats.

Snap tight storage containers. Plastic for condiments (they stack in the fridge and take up less room and weight than glass). Glass ones for left overs that will rewarm in micro.
Our GMG- bbq, smoker, oven. Love it.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is The Next Exit book. It covers all the interstates and tells you what is available at the next exit. Also includes where the rest stops are and what's available at each rest stop. We have found it to be very accurate and we use it a lot. We use the book, haven't tried the online version yet.
I'm moving to things that are apps. Any book is always 6+ months or more out of date when it comes out. Allstays app has a lot of info on it.

All RVs are money pits that require constant maintenance lest they disintegrate into piles of rot, as some of us have learned from buying used coaches that the inspectors told us were in "good" shape. There will be unending problems; wine may help for the moment; attitude and persistence help for the long term.
