I've been bothered with pain in my neck, shoulder, arm and right leg for the last 9 months. I'm thinking it may have started when I pulled my shoulder reaching the socket under the kitchen table. Between work and stress of work it's only gotten worse, but I'm wondering if it could be the mattress too.
Our CC came with a Trump pillow top mattress (I doubt he has one:) which we thought felt good. My husband is fine with it, but I was just wondering if anyone else experienced these symptoms with a bad mattress or if it's just a strained/frozen shoulder.
We slept on a sleep number bed in a hotel a few months ago and I didn't like it, I couldn't find a setting I liked at all.

We've had just the opposite results with our Select Comfort (Sleep Number) bed. Jo has had some back issues resulting from being thrown from a horse a few times, plus other issues. She swears by ours and actually thinks the premium one for the RV's is better than the one we had in our stix and brix. I can't speak for everyone, but sometimes it takes several nights on the mattress to find the best setting.
In our case, Jo needs a soft setting (45 to 55) and I need firm (80 to 100). If I'm on too soft of a bed, I start getting back pains and end up moving to a firm couch or even on the floor with a blanket or two as cushioning.
Back when we bought our first Select Comfort for the house, we were told that we should experiment with settings. I've not been back in their stores very often now, but I think they have some computerized methods to help determine a setting for each individual. You might slip by one of their stores and check that process out.

Have actually done the computer installations and wiring of several new select comfort stores (that's the kind of stuff I do often..., from building and wiring a fast food restaurant (Panera), to working in Best-Buy and HomeDepot (and of course Lowes too)
With regard to the computerized fitting/testing setting at select comfort stores.
there is a special motion sensor pad (think huge touch-screen), that is on the bed, under the sheets and stuff.
That motion sensor will actually sense the body parts, and transmit that in heat-patterns to the computer screen.
(oh and there are actually 2 computer screens. One is a touch-screen computer used by the salesperson, one is a projection monitor that projects the same image from the first one on top of the bed, so you can see it. (and I seem to recall a second projector that sends a duplicate image to the base of the bed, so others (and spouses) can watch.
Since this pressure/heat/motion sensor is so fancy, i think it actually also does body temperature.
the salesperson cycles through it, and finds your exact comfort #.
Gee. That is Much more information then I thought I ever wanted to know about the process. And (*) the cheeky part about this is that our RV does NOT even have a SC bed in it!
Of course, now I am wondering what my # would be?

My husband has a compressed fracture in his lower back and we went to a bed store where they have you lie on a computer . It came back he needed a VERY firm mattress and we ended up spending $2k on the set. Made an immediate difference in the psi. He experienced. When we started sleeping on the mattress that came with the camper same thing started happening. When we sold the stocks and bricks the expensive mattress (minus the box springs) came with us. What is. A good nights sleep worth? A lot.

Once I hit 60 it seems hit or miss whether I wake up with pains or not.
We have sleep number beds in the RV and at home. I've tried different settings and find the hard settings work best for me.
More often than not I wake up with a sore right shoulder. Once I start moving the pain goes away quickly.

The mattress makes all the difference whether it be in a house or an RV.
I know the mattress in our motorhome is like a "Rock". Took a bit to get used to.

We've tried several of the fancy (read expensive) mattresses i.e. Serta, Sealy, etc. in the S&B, all of them have lasted about 2-3 years and then the back/hip pains set in. The only time we have relief is in the summer when we use the Coach a lot and it has an INNOMAX (read cheap sleep number style) bed. I'm now looking to get the same mattress for the S&B even though we only have a little less then 3 years before we go full time. The INNOMAX mattress will run complete around $1700, which is comparable with a standard mattress.

There are a few things in life that you really should be comfortable in.
Shoes, Bras & Mattresses.
They all have a couple things in common: We are in or on them for 25%-50% of our lives and they can be good or bad for our back!
That being said, we put up with the cheap worn out 6" foam mattress in our motorhome for TOO MANY years. Yesterday I ordered a new one! It's not top of the line but I think it will be light years better than what we had before. It was on Amazon and the reviews are good. Does anyone have experience with this mattress?

For years my husband and I have needed different types of mattress. He likes firm and I need very soft pillow top. In our stricks and bricks we had two different twin mattress side by side on a king frame. When we moved in the Rv we just moved them to the home on wheels. This has been the perfect solution for us. He has it his way and I have it mine, but we are still together.

We have a new Night Therapy Elite 13" My Gel, in the box, sitting on the front porch. Will be putting it in the RV in just a little while and will be letting you know what we think.
We have slept on the mediocre RV mattress with a 3" topper for quite a while and thought it was past time for an upgrade. This new one was bought and recommended by someone whose blog I read. Hope he wasn't blowing smoke with his cudos about it. It cost a little over $600, on Amazon.
Heading out for a northwest adventure in a couple of weeks by way of NM, Ariz, Nev, and Calif. Hoping for comfy nights on the new mattress. Pat K

Hi guys! We have a Split King Sleep Number and it won't fit in the rig. May I ask what size did you get in the RV Sleep Number??? We're crying cos we have to leave our bed behind. We LOVE ours that much.

We used to have an extended queen Sleep Number bed in our home, and when we ordered our coach with the Select Comfort because it was to be the one called the Premium RV mattress. Ours is a "regular" queen and have never felt the need for an adjustable frame on our beds. That may change as we get older, but for now, both Jo and I can rave about our mattress in spite of the fact that she sets her side at 45 and my side is at 100.

Me too, Terry. I guess I'm a granite sleeper. I like 100. I also like the materess that came in our RV. It is a Serta pillow top and very firm. I also agree with his and hers... I seldom wear a bra, but when I do, I want it to be comfortable.

Promised an update on the Night Therapy Elite 13", My Gel mattress, that we bought through Amazon(Prime). Even though it looks by the comments here, that most of the interest is in Sleep Number and the like. We got the new mattress into the Cameo with not much trouble. Considering that it is a memory foam type mattress, it is very firm! After a couple nights sleep, I decided that it needed the topper(Costco) that we had been using on the other one. It is very comfortable, and considering the price it was a pretty good choice. PK
