Hi everybody, Andy & Kim from Southern California checking in.
We've spent the last 20 years going out for 1-3 weeks at a time in a 8' Scamper pop top camper. The 10 years before that we camped in the back of my parents Tradesman van.
I have been RVing since I was in diapers and have been looking forward to this all my life!
We are now preparing to get a small 5th wheel and hit the road for 1-3 months at a time (but not full time .... yet!!!).
From my research so far I see that 5er's are a completely new world. So we will be asking a LOT of question, because the one we don't ask will always come back to haunt us .
We look forward to spending time with you all, and look forward to picking your brains for wisdom, insight and expertise.

Welcome, you will find this site to have a lot of friendly people with a great amount of knowledge. we have relied on it a lot in the past few years ourselves.

Does the camp host sell firewood? It really depends on the park, Andy & Kim. Some do and even deliver it to your site. Some do not but often know where you can get wood nearby.
As you approach a park look for handmade signs roadside advertising wood. If you see them, chances are the park does not.

The few rv parks we have seen. Do not allow fires at all... only in a designated shared area..This may be a florida thing.. though Vegas, was the same.. I don't even think they had shared areas out there.
In NY.. We always had fires, and they would normally deliver it to the site with a tractor or something..

I agree. This is very common in private parks.
Most,if not all state parks in Florida have a fire ring at each site and allow fires. Sometimes there may be a ban on fires due to conditions.
