My wife & I are almost ready to embark on the beginnings of RV travel. We are planning on getting a used Class A diesel. After so much research our plan should come to fruition around Dec or Jan.
We have decided on floor plans, things we definitely want to have etc etc.
We are now down to just finding the right MH.
We have also narrowed it down to 5 brands and would love feedback on these from you guys who have vast knowledge and many years and miles under your belts. These are the 5 we are looking at. NEWMAR, TIFFIN, MONACO, FLEETWOOD & HOLIDAY RAMBLER. All appear to be very sound.
The last thing we need to decide is if we find a MH out of state, is it worth the trip and are there any issues that you think we need to be aware of? We live in Alabama near the Talladega Super Speedway.
Thanks Alan & Fay

The normal list is Newmar (what we have), Tiffin, and Winnebago, all with some variety of offers. Monaco and Holiday Rambler are the same company, have been in bankruptcy and reformed along with their brandmates Safari and Beaver. They had a fairly wide range of diesel models from low end, Knight, to very high end, Executive. Fleetwood also went through bankruptcy and reformed and had a very wide range of models, from the Discovery to the top of the line American Coach. With all of these brands, the specific model is important, not just the manufacturer.
You should also look at Country Coach and Foretravel, depending on how old you are looking at.

Thank you Bill. We are leaning towards Newmar and are aware of the other things that you stated. Re-assurance is good.

Yes it's true Fleetwood went through some changes but I know the customer support is real good. Any time I need something to do with my '99 American Dream they always come through with great satisfaction. If I needed wiring schematics, hydraulic hose schematics, air line schematics........They send me the pdf's or faxed copies, you name it.
GREETINGS TO YOU ALL.....
