If so, where/how do you anchor it for use? I think a small one would be handy.

I carry several sizes of C-Clamps which can be used like a vise for some projects.

go to lowes or home depot.....pick up a piece of Uni-strut or find a plumber or electrician that has a scap piece......mount the vice and it will fit in your receiver on your truck or motorhome!!

I do not, but of all the tools I had in my house, there have many times since that I wish I had one.
I think that a vise should be on the short list of tools carried when going full time.

Mike,
Does the Uni-strut come in different sizes? I looked on Lowe's website and the largest size they had there was 1 5/8" by 1 5/8". I'd think that would be quite a bit of "play" in a 2" receiver.
I wondered if one couldn't just buy a "stinger" for a receiver and find a way to attach the vise to the portion where the hitch ball would normally go. If one used one with the "drop" section, it could be turned so that the vice sat a little higher than the receiver.
For anyone uncertain as to what I mean by a "stinger," follow this link:
What about purchasing one of these, http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/161356136167?lpid=82, mount a vise to it and then just insert into the hitch receiver on the truck or RV when needed like Lucky Mike suggests.

Rick, I have seen those at work when I used to work in a railyard. The crane mechanics loved them on their service vehicles. They left them in the receiver all the time except to haul the giant pressure washer (on it's own trailer) from the service bay to where ever it was needed.

That hitch-mounted vise bracket is exactly what I've been looking for! Many times I've wished I had a vise with me. Does anyone know if an aluminum vise is available, to save weight?

This is what I came up with.

It weighs about 5 lbs and cost $23.
