We are looking for someone that can make a wooden or metal sign about 2 or 3 foot wide. We would like a horse watering trough with a bear sitting in it wearing a sailor hat, also Welcome to Rancho Relaxo.
I'm sure we have some very talented Dreamers out there. If anyone is interested you can PM us, just be patient, we have real spotty cell service and have a hard time getting on the net.
thanks, Hank & Ann

I too would like to get a sign. I've e-mailed Lucky Mike but have not gotten a response. How do I get in touch with him?

Two ways:
1) You can do a search for "Lucky Mike". When you locate a thread that he's participated in, click on his name and then you can either email him or send a private message.
2) His personal email is rers1@mail.com (it's in his signature line).

Because of Delivery issues and not wanting to make this become a job, I dont take orders unless Im there and set-up
I am in the middle of changing over coaches and am going from my little 24' Trek to a 40' country coach intrigue DP so I have to re learn my abilities to boondock on the east coast and move around in a big coach again not to mention the cold weather is coming (36 last nite) so between doctors life and a different coach my hands are full!!
I will be leaving the New England area @ the end of October after the Gorge festival in Vt. and headed to St. Augustine Fla. There I will be located at the Fleamarket/RV park.
After the first of the year I'm going to try to book only RV Rally's and parks for the year on the east coast....after I get a little leveled off better I may start online sales but it is up in the air because of the high demand and my inability to keep up with that type of work.
I have upgraded my equipment and added a new CNC computer carver along with offering hand chiseled and Freehand routing so the Idea's are now endless , also with the CNC signage can be designed online via computer and your exact order & wants can be made online and seen prior to work being done!!
If it will help I will post my where abouts as I go and I plan to keep updated posts on the RV Village mapping
Thanks for understanding !

That's really awesome, Mike! So glad you won't be stuck in a snow filled parking lot this winter! BTW, we're planning to spend a little time in St. Augustine when we head back to FL in Jan or Feb. We'll definitely plan to meet up! To keep on topic, I'd also love to have a sign made!

Hi Mike, Thanks for the update and we wish you well in your new rig....it will all come back as soon as you hit the road. We are so happy to hear that you are doing well enough to get back to what you love and out of those ol stuffy Dr. offices. I will keep an eye out for when you start making signs again. Hank and I would like to get one made for ourselves.
Right now we want to have something made for a cousin who just lost his wife very suddenly to pancreatic cancer. Less than 2 weeks from first visit to ER to passing. They were in the process of moving with the expectation of retiring the first of the year to 'Ranco Relaxo'.
Best wishes on your new adventure,
Ann

Ann: At first I thought this thread was about a Jeff Foxworthy Joke!!! Then when I read it; realized it was for real; and along came Lucky Mike! Then I heard the good news; he won't have to spend another Winter in cold country. And He's upgrading with some fancier equipment too make better signs and a bigger Motorhome to carry all them supplies in! Mike you are going to have to start a mail-order routine as it looks like business will be booming!
I also see Cheryl B. is recovering and that's more good news.

Congratulations Mike!!!! You deserve it.
on the sign thing, wherever you are just look up local craft fairs. I am sure it would not take that long to find someone who can make the sign for you.

Thanks for all the feedback. We have found a man in Condon OR that makes meta. He's not too far from us either.

Pieere,
Hank and his cousin have an on going DEBATE over who are the biggest mess ups, "Jar Heads" or "Squids". His cousin was the sailor, hence the sailor hat, they have a bear family the has taken a liking to their front porch and also have horses. He calls their retirement home "Rancho Relaxo". Kinda goofy, but should be fun.

Recovering?? This morning we took a walk around the park, and she started to walk faster then me (even with the cane she just carries in case...)
I seem to be getting closer to the need for my hip/knee treatments (all 3 of my siblings [9-12 yrs older then me] have had DOUBLE knee replacements!)..sigh

I have a CNC router with a table that will accommodate a 4' x 8' piece of material. I have made some RV signs out of wood but most of them are in the 1' x 2' size. Actually 11 1/4 x 24". To make a wood sign that is 2' x 3' would mean laying up some edge matched smaller boards. No big deal. The real question is if you want this to be water proof then that will determine what would you would use.
There is a lot of art work out on the internet but I haven't seen anything that looks like a bear sitting in a horse trough.

I would suggest V-Carve and use your own sketch.....I'm using a Shark pro 2.0 extended CNC with several programs and it seems to work well for most signs up to 52" (Table is basically 3x6)
all others or customs such as The Solo Cafe sign are hand drawn and then cut and Chiseled or hand routed to order..
I have my complete shop in tow behind my rv!!!!

Thanks for all the help. We found a lady in Condon that has made all the signs for the new OR state park at Cottonwood. She makes metal cut outs and mounts on rough juniper wood, and has some very good ideas.
Thanks, Ann
