DW and I are in the midst of purging our stuff. After looking at a budget, we find after all outstanding payments we will have only $2,000.00 to $2,500.00 left for fuel and campgrounds. Tough to put money aside for emergencies.

How much do you plan on moving? FWIW....plenty of people out there with less than that....Boondocking? 5 star resorts? It's all about the choices and making it work for you...

$2000-2500/month for *just* campgrounds & fuel is quite abundant, in my opinion. Or is that for all of your living expenses (food, entertainment, connectivity, etc.) too?
For the past couple of years, we've averaged $700-850/month for fuel and campgrounds. Travel about 9000-10000 miles a year, and stay in a variety of places without having to watch a budget too closely to get that number. We mix it up with a couple monthly and weekly stays a year, a little boondocking, some volunteer work, private campgrounds, state parks, national parks, etc. We could do it a LOT cheaper than that if we wanted to, or spend a lot more if we wanted to stay in 'vacation' and 'resort' style places more often.
Our averages are about half your number, $1000 to $1200 per month for fuel, camping, and propane and we don't conserve much. We once spent $2000 for fuel in one month, but we traveled over 3700 miles that month and the diesel price per gallon was high that month. Health insurance is a higher monthly cost for us.

Gilljr, just to clarify, are you saying 2000-2500 per month or for a full year? If only per month it seems you're in no danger, per year will be significantly more challenging. Your post begs for a further explanation of how you arrived at that number in order to better advise you.

That number is per month. We have groceries etc. figured in our expenses. Our rig is too big for most state parks, 40 feet plus tow vehicle. We like to go to Nevada for winter which is appx. 10k miles, but stay put at anice resort at $497.00 per month plus electric.

By far our largest expense is health care. Our health and dental is over 900 monthly. Show us some figures and we can possibly help advise. We have sure found out ways to save money over the years.

We can't stay at most state parks due to size of rig, 36RESB3 select suites. We stay in one place for 4 months in winter at $497.00 per month plus electric. This is about a 10k mile round trip. We found a campsite at home base for $175.00 per month plus electric but want to do some traveling during summer months. Health insurance not an issue because we are both Medicare and back up is BCBS thru wife's state pension.

We are not fans of nice resorts. We hunt out the small mom and pop parks. No hassles. One we in now is 400 per month and that includes electricity. Have outdoor fish fry on a regular basics.
