Can anyone help with an insurance question? We are picking up our new 5th wheel end of this month and I'm trying to compare pricing between our current company (State Farm) and with a company who I'm sure will be good for full-timing (not sure if State Farm is) I got a quote from Good Sam's and they stated that for full replacment on our model and a full-time rate would be roughly 1600.00/yr. I also tried a company called Foremost.(never heard of them) and they quoted about 1100.00. We live in PA and we are going to leave that as our domicile in 2016 when we head out but does anyone have a company you really like or any feedback on these that I mentioned? Do these prices sound average??? I'm still waiting on an answer from State Farm as to a price and if they even cover for full-timing. Thanks all!!

Several of us on this forum go through Miller Insurance. They are the broker. We wanted to use Progressive through Miller, but the rates ridiculous. I liked working with Stevia at Miller. Long story short, we ended up going with National Interstate and saved probably $1,400 or more for our truck, 5er (full timer coverage), plus a personal umbrella policy. Finalized the paperwork just today. It might help to refer to all of the information Howard has posted on the left-hand side of the home page. Be sure to reference Howard and Linda when you get a quote. This helps them for all of their time and effort. I hope this helps.

Find any one of the full timing aware insurance agents out there (Millers, Poliseek, CnC, etc.) to get quotes. They're worth working with, as they know this lifestyle and what companies are best for you situation.

We Loved working with Stevia, and are quite happy with them(Miller).
The fact that both the F550 AND the DRV are insured with the SAME insurance company, that DOES know we are full-timing is critical for us.
We had to dump Progressive, as they wouldn't cover the truck. IF I have a claim, chances are it will need to be for BOTH, not just one, so WHY on earth would I want TWO insurance companies?
Also Geico won't insure Full-timers. and Don't think that they won't investigate if there is a accident, and claim, that they will try and say, "NOT covered because you were full-timing".

We went with Millers and got great service. I've had State Farm for a million years and they would not insure my truck unless we had a "fixed location" garage for it. So, they lose a good customer (in 30 some odd years we only had a claim for hail damage to our car) because we are not living in one continuous location. Crazy!

We're the same as you Joe....been with State Farm for over 30 years. I called Miller's today and was lucky enough to get Stevia too. Great girl and very knowledgable! She actually worked for State Farm previously and told us they don't have a "real" full-timers policy. They also would not give us full replacement cost for our camper, so we're going to kiss them good-bye on the rv coverage at least, after next week. Thanks for the advice everyone....it was very helpful and cleared up some concerns we had. One more thing off the list!

You might try Explorer RV as a broker. I ended up with National Interstate for my Allegro bus and toad, with them. Much better rates than Progressive or Good Sam. They also understand insuring an LLC vehicle if you have one.

Something new to add to the mix that just happened to us. We recently moved to Colorado and by moving here, we can save almost $1200 over the cost for Oklahoma. (Must be those tornadoes.) Anyway, in getting things changed with National Interstate, the folks at Miller's wrote me an e-mail with one last request. It seems that National Interstate wanted pictures of our Ford F450 showing both sides, both front and rear and of the interior.
When I asked why when we didn't have to in Oklahoma, I was told that National Interstate did some "audits" and found that one F450 was owned by a guy that was actually using it as a garbage truck. So, if you've got a "bigger" truck, you might get asked for photos.

In Colorado it is not applicable. Even though we have an F450 it is classified for registration purposes as a "Recreational Truck." In fact, our F150 is heavy enough that it applies as a recreational truck as well, thus our registration fees are less than what a "regular" or "commercial" truck would be.
