Hello All from Southeastern Mass! Becky and I (Brent) are quite a few years away from moving into our house on wheels but starting research early never hurts, It also makes the dreaming more fun. I have been trolling for a few weeks and decided its time to jump in. After our high school kids are out and on their own we plan to downsize and hit the road for some adventures. We have lived in quite a few states thanks to the military and are fortunate to have traveled to many places, we have enjoyed it so much we would like to keep the adventures going. Hope to see many of you in a few more years. Thanks for all the wonderful information I have read so far....its overwhelming at first. So much to read, links to look at, solutions and many, and a friendly helping hand on here! Enjoy your travels!
Brent

Welcome, Brent, and thank you for your service!!! As you said, it's never too early to start planning. I started planning 3.5 years ago and, well, here we are... in Elkhart, IN... waiting to pick up our new 5er. The sooner you begin the purging, the better. Ask many of us how we know! Good luck with your planning and we hope you stick around. You will learn something new every time you tune in!

Welcome aboard. You are on a path similar to ours, we are looking at 2019 for a tentative start date which is where the stars are currently aligned for us. There is a plethora (oops there's that word again, inside joke, sorry) of useful advice and opinion on here, so ask away. If you think the research is overwhelming, wait till you get the purging phase. Parting with your "stuff" is part emotional trauma and part carthartic. Somewhere in there you'll get an epiphany (okay that's two more 25cent words). At that point it's all down hill. We kind of got it backwards, we had the epiphany first but the parting with the "stuff" is proving somewhat more awkward. Fortunately for us is that target date which is allowing us to be a bit lazy in our approach (hmmm, now I'm wondering if that's a good thing or not as we cull the RV inappropriate items. If we purge quickly now, then we'll have the trauma of waitng for the final two pieces of the puzzle to fall into place (house sold and retirement pensions to begin) Like a fellow member(MarkS) said on another introduction thread, ..."now if the wait doesn't kill us..."

Brent,
Welcome. Ya'all can start (or is it join?) a new class on here.
We were in Western Mass and in Boston this summer. Your time will come before you know it!
In the meantime it's a great place to learn and ask questions.

Time flies when your having fun! I must have had a lot of fun; hard to remember the years between then and now being 63. Then again; have to reminisce about the good times through those years; which keeps one positive about life in the latter years. I don't know if I relate to the Timex watch; just keeps on ticking or the energizer bunny; keeps going and going! LOL!
Welcome enjoy the journey and don't worry about the destination! PIEERE

Brent, we started planning about five years ago. Now we have the Smart, the tow vehicle, and the fiver. Unfortunately we also have the wait which is killing me. On another thread they talked about space heaters. I wish I needed a space heater. I would love to buy a space heater. I don't even care what kind. If I needed one it would be an indication that I was living in my trailer. Oh, to be trailer trash. No more lawn to mow or hedges to trim.
Anyway, we learned a ton before buying the RV. Learned about what we wanted and gave a lot of thought to what we need and how we will live. I'm sure a lot of that will change but we have thought it thru and considered what we want and how we will do it. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask.

Hey Brent, welcome, welcome.
You've tuned into the right place. It never ceases to amaze me about the volume and span of information and knowledge here. So much. And if you're researching tech stuff, between the posts and links, it'll make your head swim. But just take it all in. You'll get there. Happy trails.
And Brian - cathartic? Hmmm. I may have to buy a new dictionary!
