We've been shopping for a MH for a few months. We're now getting offers on our properties and inching ever closer to an accepted contract so it's time to get serious about buying a MH for our full timing adventure. We live in Upstate NY and the unit I'm considering is in Texas.
Can anyone recommend an RV Inspector in the Austin area?
I'd like the 'house' fully tested/inspected along with the motor/trans/suspension/gen set, etc. We've never owned a MH before so I need someone I can trust and rely on to do a through job. If the inspectors gives the rig the thumbs up we'd travel to Texas to do our own inspection and try to work a deal.
I would want the inspector to take the rig for a short test drive as well. Do most private sellers allow test drives?
If it matters the rig is a Tiffin Allegro Bus.
Regards, Brad

Maybe try to post a ad or search the Austin TX craig list ads? Not sure, just a thought. Maybe RV trader has some services on their site?

I would look for an RV technician and just not an "inspector". There is an agency that is spitting out inspectors right and left so you want a technician with some experience not just a piece of paper and a dream of working for themselves. Also, the RV tech would look at the "house" and may not be experienced as an auto tech-type that would look at the engine so you might require more than one person to get the job done. It would really depend on the private seller as to what they would allow. Have you talked with the private seller yet? Also, this book might be helpful: www.amazon.com/Buying-Used-Motorhome-money-burned/dp/1479365386/ref=sr_1_1
