Well, I've debated for some time about announcing. Went into my profile and saw RV-Dreams Lurker. Now's as good a time as any. Actually signed up in April 2014, but was lurking a month or so prior to that. So, copy/paste from our bio:
My wife Kim and I have been doing the Summer camping since 1999, starting with a North Star slide in, going to a 2001 Conquest 5th wheel, then to a 2005 Challenger 5th wheel, and now a 2013 Montana 3582RL 5th wheel. Looking to retire and then become an FTer in 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years. The sooner the better. We're already starting to get our ducks in a row.
An update to the above, 378 days, but who's counting? I AM! A lot of nervousness about it. Logistics and everything. Fortunately, we don't have to sell our house just yet. The daughter will be renting. But we still have to decide what to get rid of, what to store, etc. But man, the anticipation is a killer.
I've been reading a lot of posts here and have seen some great stuff. A lot of info. A special shout out to Technomadia. I can't say I exactly NEED a lot of technology on the road, cause after all, I'll be retired. But there's some stuff I'm sure I'll need. Bought The Mobile Internet Handbook. A wealth of information. I'm not really tech savvy and couldn't understand half of it. But I'm learning. SLOWLY, but learning none the less.
So to everyone out there, HEY YOU GUYS!

Thanks for the welcome. Wisdom? Weeeellll! Let's not go that far. Some experiences, maybe. The kind that make you go 'Duh! What WERE you thinking!' But, I guess we'll all have some of those at some point.
But yes, learning a lot of stuff and have gotten a good chuckle out of some of the posts.

Welcome. I think the nerves are a good sign. It means your stretching yourself and coming out of your comfort zone which is what growing and changing is all about :)

Welcome Paul & Kim,
I can tell from your intro line that you have a good sense of humor so you'll be a great addition. I agree with not being able to understand all the technical talk but like you, we hang in there. We retired folks find we really NEED good Internet to search routes, campgrounds and stay in touch with family & friends.
Only 377 now! 😄

Paul and Kim,
Welcome to the forums as an active participant. Since you've been lurking some, you probably already know that there are a lot of knowledgeable folks here that are more than willing to share their experiences as well as being helpful and friendly. And, when encouragement is needed, they are here for that as well.
Feel free to ask any questions as to RV's and the RV lifestyle that come to mind. The only "dumb" questions are those that aren't asked and thus one makes an expensive or time consuming mistake.
Glad to have you as part of the "family."
Terry

Welcome Paul & Kim!
Sounds like your on your way! We planned for 1 1/2 yrs, and have been fulltime since June 28. We also have a 2013 Montana 3582. Dontcha just LOVE it! It's only been a short time, but we've found it perfect for fulltiming. Plenty of space we haven't even used. It's a real nice floorplan. You'll get plenty of great info here! Nice people too!

Trace and Sherry,
Thanks for the welcomes. It's kind of funny. We actually had been talking about doing this for a couple years. And then it was a realization, OMG, it's really almost here and we're actually going to do this thing. So much to do, so little time. I think Kim has quite a bit more angst about this than I do. She's a little bit younger than me and when it finally struck, it was "I didn't think I'd be retiring quite this early." On the one hand, very hesitant, on the other, game to make a go of it.
But yes, a sense of humor is extremely important. We were on our way up to Blue Mesa Reservoir (Gunnison CO) a couple weeks ago and broke down about 2 miles from our destination. I mean seriously. And as we're getting ready to leave the campground, found I needed a new alternator. If ya don't laugh... One guy stopped to see if we were all right. He said, and I quote, "Do you need a Ford mechanic? I'm not one, but I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night." Talk about a tension breaker! We laughed for a bit on that one.
Exploring the technology, I agree, is important exactly for the reasons Sherry stated. First to stay in contact with our daughter, and then all the other logistics. One of the things that has me the most nervous is when we get to moving around more frequently. Do you need reservations, do you not need reservations, what places are first come/first serve. Ahh, the questions. I know I'm going to need to do quite a bit more research on all of this. But it's becoming part of the fun and anticipation.
