I just noticed that LG is offering a washer dryer combo about the same size as the Spendide. I looks to be about two hundred dollars more and it is ventless. It is 110 volt.

Ventless and very sensitive to being level, so not certified for RV use. Ventless means it takes around 30% more time to dry. There are actually many companies making ventless washer/dryer combos for sticks and bricks, but most need to be dead level and/or cannot handle the movement of driving down the road.

We had the ventless Splendide in the 5th wheel that we had. We added it ourselves and decided to not get the vented. It took a long time to dry but it was intriguing and much better and less expensive than using the laundry mat. I saw that Dometic has one now also.

With a ventless you are just putting all that water into your RV. Nice weather not a big deal with windows open. They take forever to dry and if u pay for your own power that's money out of your pocket.

Is installing a vent in the RV wall a big deal or difficult? Open heart surgery may be less painful than cutting a 4" hole in my brand new depreciating investment.

We are planning to begin full-timing within the next few months! Because I have struggled with the Splendide w/d combo since owning our pre-owned Adventurer (3 1/2 years), my husband removed it from the rv yesterday. I am not sure if I want to replace it with anything as I may want the space! However, I have begun to research smaller washers and have done some reading on the Haier and Avanti "portable" washers. I may skip the dryer altogether but I will check out the LG MarkS mentions here. Does anyone have any insight into the Haier or Avanti? Thanks!

sweetgeoria: I have seen reviews on Haier and they are mixed but don't remember seeing anything on Avanti. I think that both Amazon and Wal-Mart sell Haier and some others online so you might be able to get reviews, usually fairly reliable from their websites. When looking at small appliances, I often go to "compact appliance" and their website should have some reviews also. I know people in other forums have went to using the "WonderWash" which is a large plastic jar on a stand for countertop and a spinning dryer which does a good job of taking out water but doesn't dry. I would also look for youtube videos watching them operate to get an idea of vibration and mostly how messy they might be but some of the users sometimes seem, well, not so together themselves but the videos still have value.

We looked at replacing our Splendide with the LG when ours got fired last February, but it is slightly larger and wouldn't fit in the space of our Cedar Creek 38FL. I was really hoping to because of the dampness issue and sticky towels, but we're working with it. Leaving the washer door open when we're gone and we wash towels at the camp ground and dry at home.

We have the LG compact washer and really enjoy it. Highly recommend it. Now a vent less dryer I don't want. It might be good in a dry climate but that is just a thought.

We have no problem getting towels dry with our vented Splendide combo. We had a 2100 and wore it out, so we now have a 2100XC. The 7000 series are ventless, as are most combos from other brands.

My wife does 3 loads 1 week and 4 the next in our Splendide vented combo. Works great and have never had an issue with it. It may take a little while for it to pay for itself, and you do sacrifice some space and weight for it, but we wouldn't be without it.

Love our washer and vented dryer! Works great! Just make sure the guy with the saw knows where to put that hole in the wall!
