Steve, Kev and I spent the winter at a place called Nature Coast Landing north of Crystal River. We used to go to Walmart in Inverness every week. It was about 30 minutes away, I guess. It's a great park. If you rent, you'll be renting from whoever owns the lot, so the lot rent varies with the owner and with the time of year. The lot we rented was more during the winter. Here's a link that shows the sites http://www.naturecoastlandingsrentals.com/
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Steve, you might check out Sandy Oaks RV Resort, Beverly Hills, FL. It's about 20 minutes from Inverness and it has a large variety of sights. Some are small, others quite large, some paved, others gravel, all pretty level. I think you'd probably be able to get a spot Sept and October but beginning in November it starts to get pretty crowded. There are some folks that don't come down til after Christmas so you might give it a try. It's very well managed and everyone is really friendly. Lots of activities including the Withlacooche bike trail (paved) just a half mile away (you can ride it to Inverness), lots of folks that like to kayak, and tons of group activities. Look us up if you come, we're on lot 47 at present. Good luck, Judy & Bill

Place looks great.. Just like I am looking for, and some insight from folks staying there.. Perfect. Price is right too..
Just compiling a short list then calling in a reservation.
If it gets that crowded, later.. I better look at my next legs as well. We will be heading south.. moving a month at a time.. Landing in th keys for a couple months.. then heading north up the east side of FL.. through like maybe apriil/may.. not sure after that..
Are all the parks in FL get full like that?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure all decent Florida RV parks get crowded during winter (and most of the indecent ones, too). Then come April, the snowbirds amble northward. Florida natives celebrate both their arrival and their departure, though not necessarily the same natives in each case. The roadways get mighty congested January through March even as the profit margins expand.

So , I plan to kinda travel through florida for the winter..
Should I make reservations for the whole trip? I was hoping I could just wander around city to city.. But maybe I will loose out on a nice spot, or have no spot on all..
Anyone know how the winter is down in the keys, as a to Rv rental spots for a 43' trailer?
Considering some of the priced I seen so far.. kinda leaning toward Resort type places, or private rentals in nice parks.. Our tentitive budget is 700/mo for rv rent.

Florida in winter REQUIRES reservations. I lived in west Florida for 19 years. I made my snowbird reservations in April and May.
We went fulltime June 10, 2014, but I want my Florida winters. We can't afford "resorts." We have been staying in military campgrounds and state and federal campgrounds, usually for under $12 to $20. Most have large spaces, some don't have sewer.
You might try Royal Coachman in Nokomis, FL, fair prices nice place, middle of west coast, south of Sarasota. Sarasota has anything you want, beaches and hiking to opera and ballet.

I better get a move on.. Will check that place tonight..Sounds like our second stop..
Just picked up a 2015 atlas to lay my target areas in for FL. will get some reservations this weekend.. I hope.
I see most are wanting 3 and 4 mo commitments as well. That will be a problem, as we want to move monthly..

Just booked pull through site 101c for sept and oct.. Is that a good site?
Ann in the office said it was a good one. The other one that looks ok on google earth was 215c.. but there are some snowbirds coming in oct.. and we would need to move then.
We got tired of looking at different campgrounds.. seen some really nice ones.. but the lots look good sized here.. and the here are no neighbors in the sitting direction..

Steve, Both sites you mentioned are very nice. I'm betting you'll like 101c. See you soon, can't believe it's the end of July already.

Yea, seen that one ... On google earth it looked pretty small in there..
There are alot of them in the area ..Many looked good to me..
We actually made a reservation at nature coast.. but cancelled it.. spot was deep in the trees..
I have a list of about 15.. evaluated them all.. I think the campground is going to be the hardest part for us..
We think we can take a couple days , drive to the next spot and preview the park.. before we bring the rv.. we'll see how that works..
