I've taken the next two weeks off from work to get things done! We close on the house on the 21st of July. We plan to move into the RV in our back yard about the 13th, then move to a local campground on the 16th. All of the stuff we are storing will be picked up on the 17th or 18th. I'll go back to work on the 22nd and retire on the 31st. Around mid August, we will hit the road!
The Appraisal, termite check and home inspection are all completed. We haven't heard from the buyer about issues, so I guess no news is good news!
I think we are well on our way to becoming full timers!

I could care less about the closing on the house. The retirement and going full time is likely to be great.
Congratulations and God speed.

5 years ago we closed on our house on July 21, and we never looked back. Just keep moving forward, dodging around any obstacles that present themselves. We thought we'd travel for two years. 5 years later we can't think of a reason to stop :)

Sue,
I hope we feel the same way after we have been full timing for a while! We are putting some stuff in storage for an exit plan, but I hope that is short lived!

Well, we put stuff in storage too, and its still there. We cull some stuff out everytime we pass by the storage unit, but our daughter moved across country with only what she could fit in her car so now her stuff is in there too.
I know popular opinion is not to waste the money storing stuff, but we have our reasons, so for us it works. Everyone has to do what feels right for them.

I guess if you can afford it and it provides you with comfort, having a storage unit is a good thing. However, the cheapskate in me hates spending $1980.00 per year to store stuff that I may never want again!

We just completed round 1 of shrinking the storage room, annual storage bill will drop by 1/3. We do not have any family here that can store anything for us and there were just a few things we're not willing to part with like Grandma's cedar chest, family heirlooms, scrapbooks, etc. I honestly hope that next summer when we're up here again that maybe we can sell the items we had on Craig's list that didn't sell this year, then we can shrink the room again.
We are getting sooo close and it is almost scary!
