Hello everyone. Our RV adventure started almost two years ago with a tiny R-Pod. We quickly figured out that with two humans and three dogs we needed more space. After three trips in three months we traded in our beloved R-Pod for a Keystone Passport travel trailer. We enjoy traveling and have visited 20 states in the past two years.
After the crazy winter, we know that once I retire we never want to see snow again, unless it is on the top of a distant mountain. There are too many wonderful places to retire so we've decided not to choose one. Our retirement home will be anywhere and everywhere.
Our goal is to start full-timing before I retire in five years. Full timing may be three and a half to four years away but we are preparing now. We are cleaning out the house and learning to live with less. A bit of remodeling needs to be done before we sell so this summer I'll be talking with a realtor to find out exactly what needs to be done to quickly attract a buyer. We read as much as we can online and in a few magazines. We go to as many RV shows as we can manage and are starting to determine our wants and needs in our future on the road home. My husband wants a class A and I want a fifth wheel. I'm pretty sure he will win on this one. :)
I'm grateful that there are seasoned full-timers who can share their mistakes, mishaps, and wisdom with us. I know the next few years will go by quickly and we will soon be living the RV dream.

Linda,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will find a lot of answers to questions here because the forum participants are familiar and are using all kinds of RV's. So, when a question arises, ask it. There are no dumb questions except those that don't get asked and one then makes either an expensive or a time consuming mistake.
The choices between a Class A or a fifth wheel is made up of many aspects to the full timing lifestyle. For instance, if one is planning on staying in one place for an extended time, then a fifth wheel might be best because a Class A really needs to be driven a number of miles every so often to keep things lubed up and operating right. If one is planning on moving every month or so (or sooner), then a Class A might be best.
Whatever you choose, remember that the frame, axles, suspension, wheels and tires make up the very foundation of the RV. Those things need to be as good as one can get.
Good luck with your planning and research.
Terry

Welcome to the forum from another Pennsylvanian. I too am in the planning stage. Wanted to have my house listed by May, but it's looking more like July now. Just can't seem to get it all done any faster!
There are a lot of people who have been on the road for years on this forum. I find them all very generous and sharing of their time and knowledge.

Hi! Welcome! We're from PA too. We are also about 4 years out from hitting the road. We're been having the Class A vs fifth wheel debate too. Currently we're leaning towards a fw and dh is happily researching trucks. We're looking forward to the Hershey show.
There are a lot of helpful folks on here with a wealth of knowledge.

Welcome from another Pennsylvanian....wow, there's more of us than I thought!! We are moving into our motorhome officially tomorrow and will be static for awhile...but hoping to hit the road in the spring. We too had the debate, I lost...he won. He was the one driving, so figured that counted for something. We went to the Hershey show last year and Tampa show this year...both we're great. This forum was an invaluable resource as we did our research. The search feature is awesome as well!! Welcome!!

Welcome from SW MO! We are fulltimers standing at the starting gate. We've move into our MH and have our house for sale. We keep busy working on the little things in the house that need attention and are still going through stuff. We also started with a small camper, an MPG by Heartland. With only a cat and two of us, it wasn't too crowded, but we knew we couldn't full-time in it. My husband retired a couple of years early so we looking forward to starting the traveling soon.
