Lucky but not. Today Diane was out walking Jack and all of a sudden a fire truck and a couple cop cars went scooting though the park. Of course because Diane and Jack were out I decided to head out myself and make sure they were ok. And they were.
However what wasn’t ok is a RV that obviously had an issue with a refer. All the outside panels were off and scorched, there was a fire extinguisher on the roof and the RV was surrounded by firemen going in and out in full gear.
The good thing is the RV was otherwise still in one piece and recognizable and everyone is safe. That’s the good thing. Close call.

yikes that is too scary. I'm reviewing my insurance policy and asked about tornados and hail and wind and flood, totally forgot to ask about fire. I assume it's covered but I'm a Nervous Nellie and will make another call just to be 1000% sure.

I don't assume refer any more since there can be other causes. I watched one burn myself that turned out to be the converter malfunctioning once plugged in. We all thought it was the fridge.
I have not heard of fires once the RV fridges have had all their recalls, but many have not done the recalls. We no longer have our Norcold, but it wasn't for worrying about fire, it was acting up and we worried it was going to break again. We do love our 24 cuft side-by-side residential.
A friend was about 14 years old and out riding his bike. A fire truck drove by in the direction of his house, so he followed it to his own house on fire. it was very memorable, they lost most of their stuff.

most refrigerator fires are caused by poor maintenance.........people tend to only have them serviced when they dont work. same with there heaters , A/C and hot water systems......(They pick these bad habits up in the Stick & Brick)
Clean the chimney and rooftop grates. make sure there are no obstructions on the access door
Vacuum & clean burner areas and clean Venturi tubes
inspect heater wiring.
visual inspection for leaks and corrosion on tubes
you do this every 30 to 60 days and you will cut problems way down .

For the record I spoke with the owners of the coach and it was in fact a refer fire. And according to the owners all of the recalls are up to date.
They said the insurance company was happy they decided to have it replaced with a residential refer because they receive calls daily concerning refer fires in RV's and many of them are complete totals.
They though the fire was out before the fire dept. arrived however they found a area smoldering that was about to flare back up.
