We found a COE campground with 50 Amp service to spend Memorial Day Weekend. We loaded up Thursday evening. Of course there were a few things we forgot but, we knew that would be the case. Only one item was a show stopper that caused a trip to Walmart, sheets. Don't send me to the store for sheets, 400 thread count Egyptian arghhhhhh.
We are testing every system. So far, so good. She made some great dinner rolls in the convection. It browned the wings nicely. The microwave heated a lunch burrito perfectly. We had nice warm showers last night. I don't fully understand the water heater cycling. I'll learn. It took a while to get the ice maker working.
Two issues, both Lippert. Scare light won't go off. It is remote controlled through the Lippert remote system. And the brakes on one wheel came apart which might explain why none of the brakes are working. Not a problem with my tow vehicle but, I want them fixed. Actually, no excuse. Can you imagine buying a new car and have the brakes not work. Nothing speaks of Lippert quality like bad brakes. Pinheads.
We have identified a couple of simple things on the truck that need repair. The air conditioning works when it wants to and the gear shift needs attention. No complaints since it has 600k miles on the clock. It is kind of dusty from sitting but we will get it cleaned up as time permits.
The trailer seems very roomy at least for the two of us. However, it doesn't take much room to sleep and I did several hours of that today. We have few TV channels, I need to learn Spanish or get a dish. Next challenge is t learn the surround sound system.

I am sure Sherry & Jesse (WestwardHo) can share experiences with upgrades needed for aTrilogy. However I totally agree that brakes should work PERIOD.That seems like a manufacturer defect which should be fixed immediately. This from someone who helped drive through the Siscyou area today. Hate this spell checker on this tablet, overrides the real spelling. Hope Mark will figure out what mountain range in No CA with are in since auto spell check doesn'the comprehend.

When I get my rig, so much more I'll need to learn, including how to flush the toilet! (I actually saw a video on Youtube about what to do for liquids and solids - I never would have thunk about filling it with a bit more water first.) And no clue about dumping or hookups or plugging in to shore power versus using the generator while dry camping. Soooo much to learn.

Holy cow Mark, brakes not working!!! That is scary. Can't tell you how much we love our new disk brakes. One dealer in California said we didn't need disk brakes but they were wrong. Keep your eye on those Lippert Springs. The security lights don't turn off with the remote? That's the only way we could get ours off. Try using the rocker switches in conjunction with remote. Turn one way, try to turn off with the remote, if that doesn't work, turn rocker the other way. (While most of our rocker switches are down for off, the two security light switches remain in the up position.) Hope this helps.
I'll have to have your wife coach me on that darned oven.
We keep the inside switch for the gas H2O switch off when on shore power but be sure your outside electric switch is on. If we both want to take long showers we turn on inside gas switch.
We love our Winguard Traveler Satellite dish!
I'll email you Jesse's cell if you have any questions or just want to commiserate.

Cheryl,
The way I do the black tank is after I've done all the flushing with the tank spray system, I close the black tank valve and then not get in a hurry to get to the hydrant to turn off the water. I'm not sure how much actually fills in the bottom before I turn it off, but we never seem to have any problems. At least the bottom of the tank is not completely dry.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. You know we all like to help.

Glad you're getting out in the rig Mark. Sorry about the brakes but they can be fixed and with your truck you were ok "in a way I'm glad you got that trailer because you were still safe".
Now why don't you come to Alaska with us. We're leaving Elkhart IN in the morning and could meet on the way. You know you don't want to work for however many days left it is...I lost count.

Red, Red, Red, you are so cruel. I am looking forward to an Alaska trip more than anything. I have equipped the fiver with 50 cal machine guns just to do battle with the Mosquitos. I am planning an April launch with an early May arrival. If you were to qualify my bucket list the Alaska trip would count for about 50%. Unfortunately, I have a mother in law living with me that ties us down a little more than even work. Family comes first. The good news is one of the off-spring is moving to Denver and the MIL plans to relocate. If the house doesn't sell, I'll walk away. Then I need to go to Denver to build the bed on the truck. Once that is done, I'm free!
I can tell you from this weekend, we will have no trouble living full time in our castle on wheels.

Mark,
Good luck with your new beauty....we are one week into ours and we are loving it. I am sure all things will work out....just keep the faith and pressure on your dealer!
Cheryl....use lots of water, period. We always wait for the burp before we dump the black tank this way you know it is full. Aftet each dump we rinse the tank and then dump the grays to flush the sewer line.....you will learn.....just watch the Robin Williams movie RV for pointers! We have all been there.

OK. What is this with the "burp?" We've not ever experienced it yet, but maybe it is because our toilet drops the contents straight down into the tank. I hold a flashlight over the hole when flushing to see down inside. The water flushing down disturbes the surface of the liquid in the tank so I can see where the level is in relationship to the tube that feeds down.
To those that get the "burp," do you have a different style of toilet? Or, is it that I now have a hearing problem and can't hear the "burp?" We can tell it is getting close because the sound of the flushed water hitting the surface inside sounds different.

Terry,
The burb is when the toilet is absolutely full and when you push the pedal down the water in the toilet bubbles up in one big bubble. It happens when the tank is full to the point it touchs the vent tube so there is no other place for the air to escape but at the toilet. For us it usually takes a week or so of use to get the burp.....funny thing is with picking up the new rig last weekend Sue said she had not heard the burp yet, then 5 minutes later she yelled out....we have a burp...so that was my hint to pull the tanks. Works everytime.

OK. That explains why I haven't heard the burp. I never let it get to the neck. That is ONE reason why I keep a flashlight on my bedside nightstand. I don't even want to hear the burp, let alone take other chances.
