Does anyone know if you can be a resident of Georgia while living full time in an RV? We currently are residents, but are selling our S&B home.

Thanks Mike. I was wondering if I had to run to South Dakota right away or what. However, I'll have to make sure I can get full time insurance for my RV.

We live near Athens Ga.
When we renewed out Operators License last year, we had to provide proof
of residence by providing, tax, water, electric bills. This was to comply with
the new Federal Standards setup by Homeland Security, that would make
the Ga. Driver License meet the Standards.
I have not read what Ga. is doing to for full time RVers.
You might want to contact the local Ga. DMV and ask the question:

Georgia allows PO Box to be placed on drivers license. I have a PO Box on my driver license and stay at Tybee campground.
Have you renewed you license in the past year?
Local DMV here said only physical address with documentation.
NO PO Box allowed as of last year.
Added to the above documents were either birth certificate or passport.
This is to meet new Federal standards.
I signed for my PO Box last AUG. Then I changed the my driver license address soon after that. It was Aug or Sep 2013 when Chatham County changed my driver license address to a PO Box. I may have had to provide a physical address for their records. That address would be my Savannah campground. But my driver license lists my PO Box.

The links show what they want now.
The wife renewed hers in November 2013, I will renew mine in Sept of this year.
States were given time to comply and then you also have different
time frames for renewals.
I have yet to find a real answer as to what full-timers will need to do
or how the various states are or will be handling this to meet the
requirements.
It will not really effect us, as we have no plans to be full-time.

most fulltimers without a dwelling or property normally will migrate to the states that offer fulltimer status.....

Oldme,
We used to be Georgia residents, originally lived in Dahlonega, sold our house and moved to Athens until we went fulltime. We could have continued with GA residency but saw no reason to do so, actually chose NOT to for tax reasons. GA has state income tax, several other states do not.
The three top states for full timers are Florida, South Dakota and Texas, there are others but these three seem to be the most fulltime RV friendly. All three of these states have no state income tax, have low vehicle registration cost and inheritance laws are favorable. We were originally going to use SD but decided we didn't want to go there solely to declare residency so we chose FL.
In FL you have to have an address in the state. We chose to use the Good Sam mail service, they are in Crestview. To start the process we changed our address for all our banks and utilities [cell phone]. We then went to FL to get our drivers license, to do this you will need proof of citizenship [passport, birth certificate, etc.] and proof of residency. There are several things you can use for proof of residency, we used a bank statement and utility [cell] bill with our FL address listed on them. After you get your DL the rest is not difficult.
One concern for me was the recent laws in TX, they now require vehicle emissions and RV inspection, I didn't want to have to go back to TX for inspections. FL has no sic requirement.

The changes have come because of:
