My almost-son-in-law is living in my camper over in NC while he shops for his own 5th wheel. He's having problems with the water pressure. It is fine for a little while, but if the water runs a bit (like taking a shower) the pressure drops until it's only a trickle coming out of the faucets. This happens at all faucets, not just the shower head. He says if he fills the fresh water tank and runs the pump it's fine, which is how he's taking showers, but hooking up to the water in the campground the problem occurs. He's taken the brass pressure regulator valve off and cleaned it, also the screen at the inlet to the camper. He also says if he opens the drain/flush valves underneath the trailer the water pressure is good for quite a while. I'm stumped as to what could be causing the drop in pressure. Any ideas anyone?

First I would take the brass pressure regulator valve off and try it with it off. I call it troubleshooting, then we go from there.

I was thinking the same....take the regulator off....do a pressure test within the coach...if everything is all off the sudden working ok ....get another regulator...(you cant clean them)

OK, I'll tell him to try that and see what happens. This would be a lot easier if he wasn't 6 hours away. And he works nights, so getting hold of him on the phone is rather iffy. I'll report back when he lets me know what happens. Thanks!

If he has a water filter somewhere in the line, the filter may be clogged or not installed properly. It's surprising that the water can completely shut down just from a clogged filter, but it can. And we've seen one fifth wheel where an in-house filter was installed wrong not allowing the water to get through at all. Just another thought, and an easy fix if that's the problem.
