We've been in our 2006 gas V10 Georgetown 36' for about 6 weeks driving mostly on flat ground (I-10 from Houston, then to Asheville, NC). I'm towing a 2 door Jeep Wrangler around 3600#. I've tried using the Tow/Haul option and everything seems OK (but the rmps seem high to me) going uphill or at least while I'm accelerating but as soon as I let off the gas or crest a hill, the rpm's race from around 3000 to 4000 and the engine seems like it's down shifting. Really freaks me out. I used the O/D option on my pickup when I was towing my TT and I never had this happen.
We are heading to the rally and we are on the NC side of the Smokies. I'm a little nervous about heading over the mountains on I-40. Should I just forget using the Tow/Haul option?
If it wasn't for this forum I would have never had the courage to jump into this 'house on wheels' thing.
Thanks
Becky

Are you also using cruise control? Sometimes there is a lag between the cruise control letting off and the tow/haul gear shift.
I usually release the cruise control before going up or down a hill.
If no cruise control then it sounds like there may be an issue with the transmission control module or speed sensor or any one of the nine thousand sensors they put on vehicles now days.
The tow/haul should work great and help when towing up or down a hill.

Hey Becky,
We just made the trip over those mountains on I-40 today. It's not bad at all. Going down in the opposite direction can be a little scarier.
Though we have a pick-up and a fifth wheel, sometimes the Tow/Haul does exactly what you indicated. I have found that turning the Tow/Haul off and managing speed and gearing manually makes me more comfortable.
See you soon!

Thanks so much.
I think I will try using it going up and manage my speed with downshifting and braking going down.

Can't wait to pick everyone's brain at the rally.
