Mike is correct if you want a parking lot. They have some site with full hook up but literally it is a parking lot. To get into NYC you walk about 3 blocks to the PATH station and it is a 10 min train ride in and it drops you right at the World Trade Centet hub or you can take the ferry right from the harbor next to the campground.
If you want to drive in and stay at more of a real campground there are a couple others within an hour of the city:
Fla Net Campground - flanetpark.com
KOA Newburgh NY - m.koa.com/campgrounds/newburgh/
Black Bear Campground - blackbearcampground.com
We have stayed at Flanet...for the city it is convienent 45 mins right on RT. 80 would give it 6 out of 10
We stayed at Blackbear .....about 75 min to city....NY Thruway to GWB.....would give it a 7 out of 10
We have not stayed at KOA but have heard from friend it is nice....about 75 min to city via Thruway....
Warning.....none of them are cheap....figure at least 60 to 80 dollars per night with some offering extended stay rates.
Good Luck....

We stayed at Liberty Harbor RV this past summer. It is a parking lot with good showers. But with that being said it is very handy to get in and out of the city. I would stay there again just for the close proximity.

We do not actually need to stay in the city as a lot of my work needs will be everywhere from NJ to Long Island
Thanks for the area suggestions, I will take a look. I know it will be costly but again the last time we were up there for a month the Hotel in NJ was not exactly cheap.
I looked at Liberty Harbor the last time we were there, and I agree it is a parking lot, would rather not stay there it.
We may head over towards NJ / NY after the Jayco Rally in Goshen in early August.

In NJ, there's Cheesequake State Park in or near Woodbridge, and another state park in either Rockaway or Lake Hopatcong.

Cheesequake is in Old Bridge, Monmouth County, which is about 20 mins from Woodbridge (south), but there is a train in Matawan (literally 5 mins from the campground) that will take you directly into NYC, but be aware they accept only very small RV's, under 11" tall. We used to camp in tents there back in the day.

Don't forget but I do not think there are any hook ups in NJ state campgrounds, nor NY state campgrounds....
Looking for a RV Park close to NY City area for 2 to 4 weeks mid August.
Need to work with our local Techs, anybody have any ideas
