We are new to the site. We spend about five months per year in our fifth-wheel, roaming North America. As chief driver I'm presently right at the 100,000 mile mark -- two Alaska trips, all the lower 48 states and several Canadian Provinces. Still not ready to settle in one spot except for wintering in the Houston area. We operate a forty-foot Newmar Cypress fifth-wheel pulled with a Dodge dually. Got a canoe rack and 14-foot canoe that we paddle whenever there's relatively flat water nearby.Got a couple folding bicycles in the basement.
I'm 73. Janie is 67. Janie is retired. I will never retire. I operate the John Bridge Tile Forums on the Internet. I'm also the author of several books on tile setting. I would go full-time, but Janie likes being close to her grandchildren during the winters. So this fall I will begin building a very small house on our property in the Texas Hill Country.
I'm here to learn, and maybe along the way I can offer something in return.

Welcome to the forum John. Our goal is to be half-timers in the near future because of kids and a first grandchild on the way. I think someday it will grow into full-time even though there might be my Wife's (Grandma's) heel marks all the way to the door of the rv. :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome. We'll be pleased to hook up with you down the road somewhere -- or is that up the road?

Ah yes, the Bridges of Harris County, welcome John and Janie!! We spent last week in beautiful downtown Webster, TX. Lesson learned...we will never, ever drive through Houston again, any of the 24 hours of any of the seven days of the week! Other than that, we enjoyed our stay very much. I'm a DIY tile setter myself and I really admire the artistic work of the real pros.
Hope to meet up down, or up, the road.

Welcome John! I would like to see a picture of your rig with the canoe on it, we are thinking of getting a canoe and are wondering how it would mount.

I've had another request about the rack. I don't know how to post pictures here, but this is a link to my own forum where there are pictures. Somebody tell me how and I'll move them here. :)
Welcome, John. Glad to have you as part of the RV Dreams forums family.
As for help with linking and posting photos, I've created a couple of threads that explain that. One is in the "Guidelines and Suggestions" category of the forums, just below the link to the "Introduce Yourself" category. Here is a link to that one, in which I explain how using Photobucket as the photo hosting site.
In addition, up in the "Forum Tips" category in the same area of the main forum page is a thread explaining how to create links in the body of the comment section. As you may notice, as one of the moderators, I went into your posting with the link to your pictures of the canoe rack and "activated" your url address for you. If you want to check out the instructions for establishing links, check out this link. This same method of creating links also works in case one wants to put a home page link or blog link in their signature area.

Thanks John. Interesting set-up. We're still not sure how will end up carrying our kayak. Did you end up doing that canoe trip to the Great Lakes?
