My daughter, my dog Tj and I have been rving for about 2 and half years in a travel trailer. The only regret I have is that I have not done this sooner. We have enjoyed the RV life more than we ever dreamed. I plan on retiring in about 4 and half years and would like to upgrade to a fifth wheel. My daughter and I will be attending the spring rally and look forward to learning new things and meeting future new friends. We will be arriving on Tuesday and I will be the one TRYING to back in my site.

Thank you, Lucky Mike! I'm afraid it is a pull thru. It was a cancellation. I always avoid a pull thru, but I'm determined not to give up!

Melanie, we will be in site 222, hopefully we will have succeeded in backing in by the time you get there, we arrive the day before :)
Pieere, you should drive over from Lebanon and all us newbies could hire you to back our RVs in for us--you could make a bundle!

Welcome Melanie!! We're in #223....the arrivals should be great entertainment for many. Bumpers, or perhaps valet parking....I'm thinking both could come in handy!!!

The real ego crusher will be if you pull up to the campground and everybody and their rig is pulled over to the side of the road, waiting for you to pull in and park yours first so as to not put their rigs in harms way. The fact that you will have spectators already waiting suggests they feel safe with your ability

Ha ha that's great! I also read that they are installing stadium seating and selling tickets. We hope to get there early before the stands get to too full.

Now that comment strikes close to home, but not with regards to a huge RV. Think small town of about 550 people in the Oklahoma Panhandle and a small green Plymouth tops the hill by the theater on the 5 block main street. I've seen every vehicle that was driving on the street pull in and park until Albert got to where he was going. I guess Grandpa felt that because he used to own the land the town was on, he could take up all the street he wanted. That, or he just couldn't see well to drive anymore.
However, to get back to more of the original topic, welcome to the RV Dreams forums, Melanie. As you can see, while we enjoy our humor, we are also a group of people that are very encouraging, knowledgeable, and helpful. The friendly folks that make up "The Dreamers" (not to be confused with Freddie and The Dreamers) are what makes this forum so nice. Enough so that I as a moderator really don't have much to do other than read everything.

Melanie,
For most of my life (until I met my DH) I only drove sport cars or compacts. Easy to back up, right? Wait until you see me trying to back up a truck and a 5r, nobody will laugh at you then!! Like our friends here mentioned, trees will have to be cut down and everybody will have to leave the neighborhood.
Welcome to the Forum, we laugh at everyone and at ourselves.
