We will be buying a used motorhome in TX, registering it there, and making Texas our domicile. Can someone direct me to a website which will give me some idea of the fees and sales taxes, hopefully with a breakdown by county, involved with doing this?
Here is a link to the Texas DMV Fees page. It includes a link to a PDF of all registration fees by county.
And here is the link to the Texas Sales & Use Tax page. State sales tax is 6.25%, but there can be additional local taxes of up to 2% more. There are more links on that page to determine the taxes by city/county.

We chose to stay with Arizona due to license tags, and insurance...plus the fact that I'm originally from Texas and had my fill of it. Besides, we both like Az.
Tags $27/yr, insurance just over $100/yr (older rig, liability only). Also, no vehicle sales tax if buying from private party. True, Az has state income tax, but not a concern at my social security level. (Margie has no income). Tons of free boondocking here. Easy seasonal re-location with winter in lower altitudes and summer in the mountains. No vehicle inspections to return for each year. (smog inspection in Phoenix Metro and Tucson proper...use another town) We find Az to be quite RV friendly most everywhere. We have friends all over the state and enjoy returning when we wander off for a while.
There are other cost effective states, also. Your mileage may vary, but Az works for us.

Is there a mail service company there in Arizona that gives you a legal physical address for drivers licenses and voting?
