DH is eligible to retire now but I have to wait 4 more years to get my benefits from work. So we've decided to both work these last few years, get the house ready to sell and gradually acquire the right truck and 5th wheel.
I've been reading the forum daily and am slowly working my way through Howard & Linda's journal (up to summer '08). We discovered RV-Dreams this last December and it was an easy decision to talk about full timing. When we got married a dozen years ago we promised each other a lifetime of adventure and this seems like the perfect fit for our next stage!
We've already been back and forth on the DP vs. 5th wheel topic a couple of times. We've hit some local rv shows in the last couple of months and are looking forward to the Hershey show in Sept. Guess that's it for now, looking forward to getting to know some folks and gathering info!

Ran n Jo,
Welcome! The Journal is addictive. You have time to make your RV rig decision. We choose the 5th wheel route but really enjoy some of our friends MH's as well. Just whatever works for you.
Hope to see you down the road.

Thanks for all the great welcomes! I will admit to being addicted to the forum. We look forward to participating actively. My DH is a scientist/engineer so I know he will have lots of technical questions. We're hoping to plan to attend a rally or two in 2015 to meet some folks in person. In fact, i just finished reading about the first rally back in '08.
Safe travels

Welcome aboard. It is abundantly clear that you have been bitten. Not to worry. It's an obsession that causes greater pain for those around you than for you. You will think of nothing but your plans and your RV. You will research and listen to RV stories until you are exhausted. Eventually, you will buy your new home and it will have to be stored while you wait for your launch date. This will make it more real but no less painful. You might even find yourself spending the night in your RV in the storage lot where you must listen to hours of stories told by the guy that works on the lot while you wish he would just go home. You might even find yourself pining for the day you can move in and move on. Of course I just made this all up because we would NEVER experience these things.

MarkS is of course seeing his therapists daily for his delusions. Doctor Volvo & Doctor Trilogy are working overtime to heal him but it's a lost cause. They are referring all new patients to other therapists.

Hi Ran and Jo...
We're just slightly ahead of you also from PA and planning on leaving in next 3 years if not sooner. We're also going to Hershey show in Sept.
We've narrowed down to the one...but hoping to get a good deal there maybe....it's an awesome show.
Hope we see you there, but take care and have fun starting to prepare. That time will go quickly and lots to do! Stay dry this weekend....sounds like we're
in for some heavy rains!

Well, I can't say we weren't warned...we have officially moved our target date forward two years to summer of 2016 (from 2018)! Work situations have really changed and, after plenty of number crunching, we've decided we can make the earlier date work.
We're continuing our research and anxiously awaiting the Hershey RV show. We're leaning toward a DRV but thought it would be the best place to really get a feel for things. We'd love to connect with any other Dreamers who are planning to go.

Greetings Ran n Jo. Congrats on your accelerated FTing schedule - just rub it in! It's still 4 yrs and counting for us - but we'll need every dollar earned over this time to get ready.

Jo,
Since you are considering DRV models, whether for a new or used unit would be of interest to you, check out Rolling Retreats in Elk City, Oklahoma. For a mom and pop dealership that only sells DRV's (other than trade-ins), they are a pretty high volume dealer. They have a good reputation among the owners of Suites models because they have an excellent idea of customer relations. Last I looked, their "Pre-Owned" list shows a number of units yet to come in.
Also, when you notice that their new units don't have prices listed, that is probably because they can't advertise a price that is less than DRV's "minimum advertised price." To get a quote on one that would be their stock unit or to order one, you'd want to call them. Also, last I heard, they will deliver anywhere in the 48 states.

Cindi's talking about a 2018 start, bumping us ahead one more year, but we have to get the real estate market working for us for that to happen. We are just a bit jealous like Chip(Sushidog) but as long as he's serving up crawfish and beer.... we can commiserate with him
Ran & Jo, we are happy that you can go FT sooner rather than later, hope to see you down the road.
