Bill and I have an appt for our PDI and demo on Saturday! We are so excited! Since our dealer is 2 hours away, we have a reservation at a campground near them to spend the night and try out as much as we can before bringing our new "home" home.
I guess what I would like to know is there anything specific we should look for that might otherwise get overlooked? I have already printed a list off a blog from Changing Gears (or something similar to that). It is pretty comprehensive, but I just wanted to ask if anyone has any advice for us. This is our first new RV and we don't want to miss anything. In case you are unaware, we have a Landmark by Heartland.
I also just wanted to update everyone, since it has been awhile!
Thanks for all the help and support!

Bring a camera or something to video parts of the PDI. Take notes, and tell the salesman to slow down. If he or she demonstrates how to do something, operate the item before you move on.

While you are doing the PDI write down all the part numbers and manufacturers so you have them later

For the Landmark, a lot of the manufacturers (all of the major ones) are on the inside door where all the controls are for the holding tank displays, slides etc. :)

Hello again!
Just as an update - Bill and I brought the new 5er home yesterday! Well - to the storage place anyways (it's too long for our driveway). It's about 6 miles up the road so we can go see it and bring stuff to it any time we want/need to. There are a few very minor things that will need to be addressed, we didn't find anything serious. I will be emailing them today to see how they want to handle things, as Bill said if they get us the parts, he will handle stuff so we don't have to drive it back there and leave it. Like I said, minor things.
We are now so exciting! Makes it much more REAL to have it close by and now I can "outfit" it so we are ready to go!
Thanks everyone for your help and support!

Kelly, so happy for you! Bet you just want to go to storage and just sit in it and look around every day!? I know I would. Be sure that any repairs you do yourself don't void the warranty. Enjoy!

Congratulations! It is such a great feeling to know you are closer to the Dream! Many safe travels and hope to see you out there one day. If you decide to take a break in trip we will be workamping at Rip Van Winkle campground in Saugerties, NY this spring starting in a couple of weeks. The camp opens the weekend after 4/1. Nice family campground.
There is also the camp we are now wintering at, Brookside Campground in Catskill, NY. Owners are real cool folks and the camp is a small nice place to relax. Lot's to do in the area.
Again, Safe travels.

We did the storage thing when we first brought our rig home, as we had already sold the house and were living in an apartment where we couldn't keep the rig. Every time we went over to do something at the fiver, I hated leaving it to return to the apartment! We, fortunately, found a campground where we could live in it less than 10 miles from Kev's job and moved into it less than 2 months after we brought it home. Hope you don't have to have it in storage long!
