Wow! It’s been a year since we started this adventure. We moved in the traveling home the first weekend in March 2013. A lot has happened since then, had the house purging and selling, moved into a campground –Twin Lakes in Chocowinity for 5 months, Alie retired in June, then I worked my last day Oct. 31. We took off for South Dakota to change residency Nov 4 and made it to SD just in time for a cool spell, cool as in 4*F! We got our driver licenses changed, filled out the appropriate forms with Alternative Resources mail forwarding service and hauled butt south to Texas. We decided to try the Gate Guarding job for some extra income this winter, and it has worked out well. Can’t wait for some warm weather to start heading north again, its even cold here just east of San Antonio.

Congratulations on 1 year of RV living. I just read in another post that Jack Mayer said they have been on the road for 14 years. My wife and I have been living in our current home for 14 years so I can really identify with how much time that actually is. I hope you have a long and wonderful RVing life on the road.

We're coming up on our first year anniversary too and it's been a great year for us too!!
We had already sold our home and most of our "stuff" before we picked up our 5'er. After delivery we spend about a month camping close to home to make sure there were no issues requiring us to take it back to the dealer for service.
Then we were off to a 3 month workamping gig, our first. It was a full-time gig doing housekeeping...we did not enjoy those three months but stayed because we had committed to it and we don't quit just because the work is difficult. We did learn some very valuable lessons from this assignment, both about work assignments AND camp management... we won't make the same mistakes again!!!
After completing the workamping job we went on a SOWERS project for a month, a wonderful Christian RV ministry and a fantastic experience which we will repeat as often as we can.
We came south to Sarasota FL in December and have enjoyed a phenomenal WARM winter.
We are preparing to go the Branson MO for another workamping job, this one is 2 days a week, never will we do another 5 day per week gig!!!

Thanks for all the kind replies! Its definitely a change of lifestyle that you undergo. But one of the things that I like best occurred just this week. While sitting under the awning doing a little reading, I heard this loud racket coming from across the road. It was great watching someone else ride around in circles mowing grass! Something I do not miss after keeping up 2 3/4 acres...
