We may never be in the "Full Timing" class. But, we are trying to be in the "long timing" Snowbird Class!
With my son taking over the farm, he will be taking on the major planning stuff. But, this farm requires two people to do the work. His oldest is a 2nd grader, so it will be a while. So, I will be needed for at least several years.
But, that is the "fun" stuff. Seeding, running combine, etc. The books, the planning, the financials, are, to me, NOT the fun stuff.
So, we are hoping to be gone some time in Nov, returning the following late March. Probably home for the holidays.
Good Luck to everyone!

First to Arkansas to show my 93 yr old Mom the new home. She and my Dad full timed for 10 years until his health got bad and I think she's more excited than we are. Then to Florida to see oldest Granddaughter. Then wherever we want until time for Bre to start school in the fall. Can't wait!! Happy Trails to all!!!! Ann

We're in as well.....although we may be tweeners!! Tween 14 and 15. We will pick up our new home on April 26 in Texas, drive to the spring rally (get your cameras ready as we attempt to park and hookup!!), then home to PA. Our house will be on the market either just before the rally or just after. Ideally we're targeting March of 2015, but once the house sells, we'll have the flexibility to pull the plug at any point!! If our house sells and we can make it until March, the plan is to live locally in our RV until launch date. Very excited for the rally and looking forward to meeting everyone!! We'll bring some bottles of champagne to the rally to toast to our new lives!!

As always, you gave me a good belly laugh, Mike. I was going to say ditto to Alie & Jim. You're the professor, so you can chaperone the prom.
I can't believe how many of us there are!!! Add me and DH to the list. Almost finished purging. Our house goes on the market March 20th. We need the proceeds of the sale to buy the RV, though.
We're taking Howard & Linda's path -- never been in an RV in our lives so we have a lot to learn (well, we did stay in a friend's rig twice in our lives). In our young days (another lifetime ago), we sold handmade sculpted sand candles at craft shows and used to travel up and down the east coast and stay in tents at campgrounds. We loved the lifestyle back then and although we chose not to follow that path during our child rearing days, the dream of this lifestyle has never left us (ok, not candle making but more technology oriented jobs). Three years ago (when our last one left the nest), we realized that we didn't have to wait until we retired to follow this dream. We worked the numbers and realized that as long as there's an internet connection we could both still work. Plus, the house has become too expensive to live in and it's way too much space for just the 2 of us, not to mention how much we hate being homeowners (mowing and shoveling snow). We really don't have any roots holding us to this community, family is spread out, so I can't think of any reason -- other that we don't have a clue how to RV, but that's what this wonderful Dreamer's family is about -- not to do this!!
Prayers to all of us for a speedy sale! We absolutely MUST have a prom before the end of the year!!!

We have the apartment furnishings and some stuff in a storage shed to get rid of and lots of prep work to get done before we go but the launch countdown has started!!

Waiting not so patiently for the weather to turn so we can paint and get the house on the market. Waiting not so patiently for the garage sale to finish the purge. Are you noticing a pattern here lol. I am in my final MBA class for the next 8 weeks ...the final capstone project which is totally kicking my butt and will be finished just in time for Tennessee. I am also looking for an accountant we can use on the road, getting a minor surgery out if the way before we go on the road....stuff like that...because I know once the weather breaks it will be CRAZY.

It is so exciting to read the progress everyone is making! I don't know what I would do without this forum. We have precious few days left to finish moving out of the house and into the RV, along with trying to sell some remaining items and donate the rest. The stress is getting to both of us. Then I read the forum and excitement for our adventure outweighs the stress. Thank you all.
Trace, would love to meet up this summer! Where in NH are you? We will be in Kennebunkport/Arundel ME which we thought would be best since it's halfway between Portsmouth and Portland. My husband will be working in hospitals, so need to be near metro areas :)

I'm jealous that most of you will be meeting up at the Spring rally. I don't want to commit until at least the house is sold (besides, the Spring rally is sold out anyway). I'm hoping the Fall rally won't be sold out by the time I'm ready. I'd like to propose as many people as possible try to meet up either again at the Fall rally or sometime towards the end of the year. But we all know... plans made in jello.
