Hello! My name is Dave. The user name I'm using on the forum is my ham radio callsign. Yeah, I'm one of 'those'
I don't have an RV yet. My son graduates High school this year, and when He gets out on his own, we will start saving to buy a used RV outright. In the mean time, I've looked online as some RV's ,(I really like the Fleetwood Bounders) and have watched some vids on youtube trying to get an idea of what the RV lifestyle is about. BTW, we do intend to be full timers at this. We will be workampers, living locally in this area, while planning and saving for our adventures. At least that's the plan as it stands now. Nothing is written in stone though. I would also like to rent an RV at least a couple times to get some hands on experience and an idea of what life in an RV will be like.
I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's RV stories and can always use advice.

Hello Dave....welcome !!! Leach RV in Lincoln rents out RVs (at least they did) a bit expensive but better than making a 6 figure 'mistake'...

Renting a Class C for a couple of weekends or a week or two is a great way to see what you like and don't like.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of useful info and friendly folks on here. I'll echo Jim's "rent a Class C" suggestion to get a feel for things. We did that a few years ago it really opened our eyes about advantages and disadvantages of many aspects of things RV. For example, we learned really quick that while they'll say "sleeps ten" thats about all it will do. 10 people in a tiny space will in all likelyhood try to kill each other Reality.... sleeps 2, feeds 4, entertains 6 is more like it. You will learn to appreciate things you have or do now and also be amazed at things that never appeared on your "life radar" during the time you were ruled by a J O B. Through it all, you will get a feel for your comfort zone. It's said on here and elsewhere that RV lifestyle isn't for everyone. If it is, even if it isn't, trying it on for size in a rental is definitely a worthwhile exercise. We are still years away from full time but our 2 "rental trips" told us that it was the way to go for us when the time comes. From that we learned that a class A or a fifth wheel(we're leaning this way) was the way to go for us. Your mileage may vary as they say.

This is for me and my wife. The kids may come once in a while, and there are only two of them so I think we're ok there. We do want to rent a class C, as we had originally thought a class C would be enough RV for the two of us. I do like the Class A's though. Doesn't seem to be much difference in price from what I saw. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places though...

Hi Dave!
I remember there was a guy down there who was a traveler, or a snowbird. That wouldn't be you would it? I think I met you a couple years ago at the Hamfest the ham group puts on every year. Good to hear from you!

Sherry, I'm sure you know in ham circles, he's known as a silent key. Sorry to hear of his passing. And it's nice to meet you.

Class A's are rented too. I just threw the class C out there because that's most of what I've seen with the logo's plastered on.

Welcome Dave. Read this site and ask your questions, you'll learn a lot from friendly and helpful people.

P.S. I'm not one of those......but I really like ham radios, because if y'all weren't busy talking away on the radios you would probably be fishing on my crappie holes. LOL

I think you mean his call sign. That would be great. Looks like this forum has more than a few ops (operators). I'd like to know about your respective setups, and how you got around the fiberglass bubble.

Well Red, since you mentioned it, I do have an antenna that was built out of crappie fishing poles, I could dismantle it and go with you sometime.

No use taking your antenna apart....I've got plenty of fishing gear, lets wet a line!

Welcome Dave. We are getting very close to hitting the road fulltime our selves (in the next couple of months). DW gave her 4 week notice yesterday at work. I haven't set up my radio in our truck or trailer yet but that will come. 73, KY∅H
