Getting ready to buy a sewer hose. what is the recommended length? 20' and 28' are available.
Before you ask, Drain Master.

I actually carry two. Both of mine are 15' and they can be connected together. I have been several places where I've used both of them.

I have found that 90% of the time a 20 foot hose will work...for the other 10% I store an extra 10 footer....

Your choice as to individual section lengths, but even in commercial campgrounds I need 30’ all the time and 40’ is not unusual. My brand comes in 10, 15 and 25 foot sections. But the needed lengths mentioned are the point. I also carry one “new” section as a spare. They don't take up much space and when you need it, you really need it.

About 2/3 of the time, one 10' Rhinoflex works for me. 20' works most of the rest of the time, but I have needed 45', using two 10' and one 25' I keep just for when I need it. I use Blueline ends, even with Rhinoflex. I also carry a red (Camco?) sewer end, since a couple places it was the only one that fit and they sold them at the campground store.

I really wanted Drain Master. I like the cam connection. However comma I can buy enough rhino flex to drain the moon for what Drain Master costs. As much as I like the product, I'm afraid I'm not going to drink the koolaid aid.

Our CarriLite has the Drain-master built in. Its not as convenient as I thought it would be though. The hose is slick inside- no ribs, but it doesn't collapse but to 8' or so. I made an adapter- cam-lock on one end- bayonet on the other to use the Rhino "system" so I can use either, or hook all of it together if ever needed. One of my next projects is to do what Jack did and do a semi-permanent macerator setup.
On edit- The Rhino, or Blue hose or any of the others is a whole lot cheaper to replace after the landscaping crew runs a weed-eater over it...

I asked my husband about your question and he said 28'. Also wanted me to tell you he loves are drain master. We did not have a drain master on our last RV and the drain master is so much easier.

I guess I'm cheap. I bought 2 sets of Camco at Walmart. These are the first ones I've had that don't leak in years....I'm good to go.

Our 15' has worked for us about 95% of the time. I carry an additional 10'. Normally when I think I need it I can just back up a bit more.

I have 2 15' Rhino hoses. But for locations that have a longer run (and have had that 3 times last year) I use a Sewer Solution with 2 15' sections and a few pieces of 1" pvc pipe to extend it.

We have Rino Flex also. 1 15' and one 10'. I also carry a 20 foot cheap hose with fittings to connect to the Rino Flex just in case. I us the 20' mostly at a friends house in NJ but have needed it one other time. I use the 2 rinoflex hoses together a lot. I usually only need an extra foot or two but if you need it you need it.

We use 10' about 50 percent of the time and 20' almost all of the remainder. Just bought a couple of new Rhinoflex while parked this winter and are keeping our 3 old 10 footers for spares. We've had to use all 30' I think twice out of about 70 or 80 campgrounds.
Added later: And now that we're here in Jacksonville at the Naval Station campground (Pelican Roost) we are using both of our new 10 foot Rhino hose lengths and 2 more 10 foot spares (the old ones that I kept just in case).
I've still got one more 10 footer in the bin as well…but 10 or 20 will do just about all the time.

We recently switched from from Rhino to Thetford Smart Drain, with 2 - 30 ft sections that can be joined together. So far, Dale feels it's better than our previous Rhino set up, we rarely have FHU so we have rarely used the full 60 ft that we have available. I think we've only had 2 FHU sites in 8 months where we needed more than the 1 30 foot section. We move frequently and he found the Rhino system problematic.

Don't feel bad - I only bought one set, but had a Rino and carry all three hoses. By pure luck, the first time out with all three I had to hook them all together at one CG that had the sewer drain way off away from our pad. I really like the two ten foot Camco sections and usually only need to use one of them. Great to have some flexibility.

Maybe I'll just buy 20 feet and when that isn't enough I'll just lay the hose on the ground in my neighbors space! I keep forgetting it's called a holding tank for a reason. Even if I don't have enough hose I will have enough time to go get more.
