I am thinking of purchasing the electrical protector and understand that it will cut power to the rig if it detects low or high voltage on either leg , but , what if I am at a location where 30 amp service is all that is there. How will this 50 amp protector react ? I hate to spend $350 if it only works with a 50 amp service because alot of the places we camp only have 30 amp service. I do want to protect my rig though I don't really want to purchase a 30 amp and a 50 amp protector..

I just got the 50amp Progressive Industries (wire in) unit. I never installed yet but Progressive said it will still work fine when plugged into 20amp, 30amp, and 50amp pedestal.

You just plug it into the adapter and it works the same. You just have 30 amp instead of 50. I've done it with 30 as well as 20 amp.

The 50 amp units work fine with 30 / 20 or 15 amp services.Same level of protection regardless of the type of service.I do recommend the Progressive Industries Unit based on years of service. However, both are quality units.

Agree. I have a 30A Progressive Industries portable unit that was left from the mpg that I'm using right now. I'd like to get a permanent 50A unit, but that won't happen for a while. Maybe this spring.
