Since you all seemed to think that my first choice of tow vehicle was somewhat unacceptable I have slightly increased the documented capacity. This is the first time the whole rig has been together.

Good looking rig! That truck ought to handle the weight without any problems. Now, are you going to add a small car on the back of the truck or use the truck as your daily driver?

Since I can't use the Smart to tow the treller, I a reckon it will have to become the evil spawn and be carried on the host vehicle AKA the Volvo.

looks good Mark, I miss our FLD120 but we are enjoying our Class A too. Nothing like a HDT for towing a 5er on a long trip though.

OK, Mark. I'm going to need a picture more from the side. I just can't see where on the truck you will put the Smart.
Also, are you planning on converting to a single rear axle?

Red, that truck cost half what a pickup cost. I made my living out of it for two years and it's paid for.
Terry, the smart sits behind the cab like all the others. Right now the commercial fifth wheel is still on it so the trailer sits a few feet farther forward than it will when I change the hitch. Someday will probably remove the front drive axle but haven't a timeline for that.
I need to work on some paint. My clear coat has peeled badly in the past 12 months. My bed is in Colorado and will be taken care of on our first full-time trip. Maybe I will do some swirls to match the truck with the trailer. I need to add some red to integrate the smart. I was thinking of painting a tridon cell on the side of the truck and calling it "da momma". Maybe I could add a gasoline tank to the truck with a hose that looks like a teet to feed the evil spawn! So many ideas and so little revenue.

Well, when I saw the bolded parts above, I immediately thought of this that you might consider for the side.
Or, there's always this one. I've even got a T-shirt with a similar sentiment on it.

Terry, I love the ideas. However, the caretaker of the spawn (DW), is not as open minded about her baby.

I just pulled the trailer to the storage lot. Wow does it pull nice. Darn, I forgot to air up the hitch pin. I bet it would have been even nicer with air in that.

Probably nicer for the trailer for sure.

You should remove the front diff. and make it a single axle. It will handle more than what you're giving it and be a smoother ride also. Lower maintenance costs too.
