Apologies to my Facebook friends as I already posted this there. Today I was in the Court House in Rapid City, SD, after getting our vehicles registered and earlier in the day getting my SD Drivers License. I was waiting for my ride near the Security guys checking everyone coming into the Court House. A young gentleman came in wearing a TSA shirt and kept setting off the scanner he was trying to walk thru. Off came his cell phone, then his boots, then finally his belt. He finally got thru and one on the security guys grinned at him and said, "Karma".

Funny! I got caught in those things too when we went to renew our plates. I forgot my cell phone case has a magnet in it and kept setting it off. I was well on my way to being naked when I finally "passed".

Very funny! Makes me wonder if they have artificial "beep" buttons they use for certain people :)

Is SD the hot state for establishing permanent residence?

As long as you do not have to worry about health insurance, it is very popular.

Hopefully that won't be an issue. My union pension will allow me to remain on my current health plan, (fully subsidized) until I reach the age of 65, at which time I'll then become eligible for Medicare. The problem is that Medicare won't be nearly as good, or all inclusive as my current union health care plan, and I'll probably have to pay for supplemental coverage.
That will be the first time in my entire life that I'll have to come out of pocket for health insurance ;'(

Check and double check the paperwork you need, & bring more than you think you need especially ID's, Bills of sale, copy of your UVW, etc! Got caught off guard as I didn't have paid receipt for Americas Mailbox proving we paid for it. Fortunately I had a piece of mail addressed to us at that address that worked. Was however faxing Jesse forms back to Mesa to sign and return. The people there were very kind and helpful.
Go Early! I was at DMV at 7 when they opened. Because I had an out of state expired DL I had to take taxis everywhere. I had extra large bills just in case and was surprised to find a bank I walked into at the mall wouldn't change one for me as we didn't have an account there "Because we log all transactions" (Needed more small bills for taxis.) however they let me take cash out of their ATM and then changed those bills. When did that happen???
