I've made plenty of campground reservations in the past, but this time it felt different! That's because (hopefully) we'll be full-time RVers and not just vacationers! We will be in the Seattle area for a family reunion beginning of July. Then on to Indiana for the fall rally in September. After that, Florida for Christmas. In between, who knows! It is a very tangable step in our journey so far. And worse case, if the ranch hasn't sold by then, well they will be great vacations until it does!
ps. thanks bjoyce for the tip!

I think we may be in Florida for Christmas as well. WooHoo!
Our reservation is for Dash Point State Park in WA. I'm sure we'll stop somewhere in between Placerville (where we currently live) and there along the way. We still have a long way to go. Since my business didn't sell, we start liquidation process tomorrow And of course we still have vehicles and the ranch to sell and buy our new (to us) truck and 5er. But something was just exciting about making that reservation!
We hope to meet up with you all along the way!

780 miles from Placerville to Dash Point. I hope you make at least one stop. In our normal travel pace, we would make three stops. It does look like Seven Feathers in Canyonville OR is about the half way point, which is a favorite campground for many. (Another choice is Valley of the Rogue State Park in Rogue River OR.)

Debbie - we love Valley of the Rogue state park, nice place to stop on your way up. So fun to start the planning process!! Last spring we had a similar reaction as we started to plan the trip to South Dakota, had a blast there meeting up with several other RV Dreamers.
We'll be at Dash Point twice this summer, WA State has a 10 night max out of 30 nights during the summer season so we'll be there a couple different times, used to live very close by so we're anticipating a busy social calendar while we're in the area.
Another nice park that we've enjoyed is Kayak Point park, run by the Snohomish County Parks and Rec, that's a little further north. Let me know if you need any other suggestions in the area. The cheapest location in the greater Seattle area is the Puyallup Fairgrounds but I would be very hesitant to camp there during rainy season (ie, any month but July or August) due to camping on grass and the fear that I might get stuck in the mud.
Let us know when you're going to be there and if you're going to have time to get together.

Lucky Mike, I love the statement about reservations. Sounds like an Irish blessing.

What a great feeling! We may be in the Seattle are this summer too, still trying to decide which direction to head. Sending you some of our fast-sale-luck since our house went under contract the third day on the market!
Jo
ps do you know of any RV parks in the Seattle area for more extended stays than a couple of weeks? We would need to be there for 3 months (the length of a travel RN assignment).

"Seattle area"? North, South, East (West is water), since you really don't want to drive through the center of the metro area every day. North, Lake Pleasant in Bothell is about the best, but it is not cheap. East, Blue Sky in Preston and Snoqualmie River Campground in Fall City are OK. South I am no expert, but I can say the KOA in Kent is outrageous and lousy. Nothing close to Seattle is cheap. The metro, which includes Tacoma and Everett, has 4 million residents and real estate is expensive.

Congrats on moving forward. (Read: nose rubbing again). I like how you plan... Summer here, winter there, someplace in between.

Thanks for the Seattle RV park recommendations Bill. We spent a year in seattle for my doctoral internship, so I know how pricey it is. We will need to be near hospitals wherever we go since my husband will be doing travel RN assignments in intensive care units. We have been wanting to go back to Seattle since that year there, and will get there at some point. Then specifically where (north, east, south) will depend on which hospital.

Dash Point State Park, listed in Federal Way WA - http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Washington/Federal_Way.html, is where I recommended they stay.
We hope to meet up with you all along the way!
