1. That “wow factor” is what RV manufacturers are hoping for. “So many of these trailers have gone to residential furniture,” said Shawn Wiegers, sales manager for Liberty RV in Liberty. They have also gone to full-size refrigerators, wood cabinets and soffit lighting. There’s even theater seating in some.
2. The RV industry is starting to see a solid comeback from the downturn in the economy.

The problem I see with the "home" factor is.....More Weight less Travel...more Stress on everything...these things can only go so far, and as far as mobile travel you now are better looking for the older units with less amenities and less add ons.........the next question will be.."Would you like paper or plastic"....

I watched the clip and it was interesting as that show isn't that far from us. For us, we have always defined ourselves as "campers" and not RVers. There is a long explanation for that which has evolved over the years. I told my husband the other day that I would happily travel and live out of tent along the way just for the adventure. I love the rooftop tents! He, however, is somewhat concerned about what others think. Boo! What we find though is that units that are more "campy" are also generally of lower quality. We're considering several different options. We have only been to 2 RV shows, one in Tucson and one in Fayetteville, NC. I spent most of my time looking at the seams on the outside, looking in the cupboards and looking at the attention to detail. They like to show the "little lady" all the "prettys" and seriously, when I walk away, the checkbook comes with me!

5ers are getting so huge; one will need an M-60 tank to tow it! LOL! I've been thinking of building a 5 bedroom; 2 story house; long; two 44' trailers hooked together like and accordian in the middle; and 12' tall not very wide; 7'10". LOL! May just buy a house in the North; South East and West and two in the middle. Eventually the RV manufactureres will price thier rigs right out of peoples affordability.
Heck I think I will keep what I have and eat out and watch movies in a theater (too Dangerous) watch movies at home. Did someone say my humor was dry!!!! LOL!

Pieere and Lucky Mike, right as usual. The heavier the unit, the harder to pull and the bigger the truck. If I want to simplify my life, why would I want to worry about all that? I have seen too many instances of problems caused by length and weight. I may be a strange bird but I prefer smaller units and (horrors) no slide outs. My DH and I have no children, no grandchildren and we're not too keen on entertaining so we don't need that much room. I may change my mind later, that's the beauty of "written in jello", but not yet.

The length and weight issues are certainly a factor. But the increased use of quality materials and better frames, better infrastructure, and long-lived construction is long overdue. If in fact that is what is happening. As I've said for many years - most RV "stuff" is basically built cheap and with low quality components. My general term for RV-specific stuff is "junk", and with rare exception that is accurate. This is done because customers DEMAND "flash" at a low price point. So, as a manufacturer, you have to cut someplace.
The weekend RVs will continue to cater to a lower price point - and that is understandable. Hopefully the seasonal and fulltimer-oriented units will improve in components and construction.

Liked the one slide out I seen; really slide out!!! This man and wife came in to the park last fall with a newly purchased TT. He leveled the unit; then hooked up his water; sewer and electric cord. Then yelled to his wife to hit the button on the slide; yep! came rght out onto the ground! Just like a Dirty Harry movie! Go ahead! make my Day! The only good thing about this dilemma; we were still in the low 70's at night and the mid 80's during the day and no rain in sight. It took the local mobile RV repair guy and two assistants a whole day to get the slide back in place and another 1/2 day to get it aligned; working and sealed.
Hope they get more quality conscience would be better than all the Bling!!!
