I was diagnosed about 1.5 yrs ago with systemic sarcoidosis. I had never heard of it, most have not. We had already been planning our FT RV dream for over 2 years when this occured, and we have decided not to let the illness change our dream. We actually bought our 5th wheel last Friday!!! Now to buy the truck and sell the house.
But I do need to plan for limitations. In my case, sarcoid (for short) has led to increased production of 1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D. So I need to limit my vit D consumption and avoid alot of sun. I know I have to protect eyes, skin etc and have high level sun glasses.
I would like to know if others have such a situation and what you do to protect yourself and plan for minimal sun exposure. I do like the ourdoors but am not a sports or big hiking person. I am not a sun worshiper or anything. I would like to sit outside - shade is fine and take a least one daily walk, see nature, national parks etc.
Thanks for any suggestions. Jeanne

Just a thought, look into some of the outdoor clothing manufactures. Because the sun exposure is bad for all of us, outdoor sporting good companies have developed clothing lines that are longsleeved, long pants, but are extremely light weight, airy, and cool. Columbia is one line that I have several shirts from that are that way.

We know many who avoid sun exposure for many reasons including skin cancer and medications that make them skin sensitive. It is common in my wife's family. As already pointed out, there is clothing that can help, including some really nice hats that also cover the sides of your head and neck. Lots of people now have a t-shirt on when swimming. Sunscreen is available in multiple forms. I have a couple that will spray through hair, Banana Boat Quik Dri Sport Body & Scalp Spray Sunscreen SPF 30 (available in many stores), and Sun Splash Scalp Screen, http://www.sunsplashinc.com/. There are even combination sunscreen/insect repellents available. Buy extras so they are with you at all times. After a while it will be second nature to grab the hat and sunscreen whenever you go out.

And spend a lot of time in the Pacific Northwest if you want to enjoy lack of sunshine but be in beautiful nature! 😄 Just sayin'.
