Our youngest daughter is 17 and wants to join the air force and hopefully get into the crypto linguistics program. She loves languages and since both her dad and her grandparents were in the air force it seems like a great fit. She just got her scores back from the ASVAB test and scored 96%% So proud and happy because this puts her one step closer to her dream which puts us one step closer to ours :)
Happy holidays everyone. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Great ASVAB score. As an ex AF recruiter, I am telling you that is an uncommon score. Good luck moving forward with your plans.

Thanks Mark that's nice to hear from a former recruiter...she's an uncommon kid :). Next she takes the DLAB which is all about aptitude for studying languages And if she scores high enough she gets in the crypto linguistics program. She's a neat kid and has taught herself several languages for fun So it should be the perfect career for her.

Thats great that your daughter has a solid career track laid out.
On the other hand I'm like MarkS, Gotta figure out this Spanglish here in Texas before I learn another language.

Trace,
Hoping that your daughter's plans work out for her. It is always beneficial when one's "career" ends up being something that one loves to do.
As for languages, I took Spanish in high school and two semesters in college. While I'm not good at Spanish, I do speak English in three different "dialects"; one is with both dentures in, one with only the uppers in, and the third is with no dentures in.
