We bought our 2012 Redwood 36FL two years ago this month hoping to retiree in the next 3 years. We took weekend trips not far from home and near a WAl-Mart to set up our home on wheels. Six months later my husband was diagnosed with Leukemia. The RV stayed in storage the next 10 months while he was having treatments. At last we able to take some weekends away near our home and around my work schedule. My husband is on LTD (long term Disabilty) so in June i closed down my home based career. We took a five week trip thru out Texas and had a great time. We came home to the S&B to clean and downsize clutter . Our youngest son is going to stay in the home and we are going to keep a bedroom in the S & B for a while. We will have to be in Dallas area every 3 months as hubby will have check ups every 3 to 4 month for the next year. We plan to make a Yellowstone trip this summer and will visit more Texas parks in between until he officially retires. We are on wait list for the next rally and hope to meet some Dreamers!

I'm sad for you and hope that you will be able to overcome your husband medical issue. It is always sad to see people that have worked hard all their life and not to be able to enjoy freedom and do what they were expecting to acheive. I'm wishing you and your husband good luck and hope the situation will improve for the best.

Sue and Herb,
Welcome! Sorry about the leukemia challenge but so happy that you had your wonderful trip and have more in the future. Hope to see you at the Spring Rally. I've mentioned before how fun and informative they are but neglected to mention that they are always in terrific locations. Howard and Linda really do plan, anticipate and prepare outstanding secessions. I especially mention that as we were in Mesa for an RV related class all week and this place is what I'd call awful. Facilities nice and clean but basically it's a big ole parking lot with fire trucks and ambulances going by several times a day. Not our cup of tea.

I failed to mention that my husband leukemia has a 95% chance of NOT returning, we have one more year of follow ups. He does have chemo brain if you ever heard of that and lost his hearing bc of the drugs on. Sherry you had a class with Evada which we met as we both have Redwood RV's. We are going to a Texas Park starting December 15 for a month then hope to go to a COE park next.

Welcome to the friendliest RV forum on the Web! Like Tim McGraw's song "Live Like you were Dying"! We just don't let health maladies hold us from doing what we want; just have to be a bit more aware of how we are feeling! No more rushing; a bit more laid back and like the Turtle who won the race.
I know what health maladies are; I have been immobile staying in one place for almost 15 months; getting some heart health care and tests and treatment for Congestive heart failure; Ischemia; Angina; and Coronary artery disease. I'm like an old Timex watch; just keep on ticking! LOL! By the time the Drs. get done with me I will be like the Million Dollar Man on a few thousand dollars budget!
Wish you the beast and may be meet you on one of highways pit stops one day! PIEERE

Welcome to a great RV forum and so glad to hear your husband is doing better. If you get to go to Yellowstone this summer try to go before August. We went this past summer at the end of August so the crowds would be less which they were but the wildflowers and other beauty was less too. Best of luck with the future retirement.
