Congrats! I will be interested in knowing if & how you will be able to coordinate getting a work camping job at a RV place near your work assignment.
My husband & I keep going back and forth about that, I want him busy and think I can follow the work camping job with a travel assignment - or if I am really lucky, I will have a job where it will not matter where we go.
Hope you love San Antonio, we can not wait to get out of here & see it ourselves. How very exciting for your journey. Keep us posted!

Congratulations from fellow nurses! We are still in the process of downsizing our belongings with a goal to get the house on the market in January and hope to be on the road by the end of May latest. My husband and I are both nurses and I am also a psychologist. We hope to find travel assignments and travel the country in our 5th wheel. Hope to see you on the road sometime!

Here is a very small park in the Medical Center of San Antonio. It usually stays full due to it's location but of as of late, there have been a few spots open up. Rent is 450 for 30 amp or 475 for 50 amp. Full Hookups with electricity included. It is behind a donut shop and there is coin operated washer and dryer. Most of the residents are either traveling nurses, retired or patients under going treatment.
What is oak hills like and does it have a website?

not sure if your hubby would be open to a work camping job but the SA KOA had a job posted on the KOA workcamper page for "night courtesy patrol". The listing is still up on the site but was posted over a month ago so may or may not be filled. Here is their discription:
SAN ANTONIO KOA is an award-winning 300+ site campground is looking for experienced night courtesy patrol person. The ideal candidate will have a dynamic personality and be familiar with RV escorting. Must be available to work 4 evenings,10 hours per night. Duties include providing excellent customer service, checking in and escorting late arrivals, closing and securing buildings, monitoring entrance gate, and patroling grounds.
Compensation
This is a 30 to 40 hour per week position, You will receive a spacious site which includes water, electric, sewer, cable, and wifi You will also receive a 15% store and cafe discout, 15% propane discount, uniform shirts, and a laundry allowance. Pay @ $8/hour for each hour worked. If you are not available now, please do not apply.
If you are interested you can try calling them but may have to join the KOA workcamper site to actually apply for the job. There is a cost to join so if interested I would call them first to make sure the job is still available.
Phil
ps: don't let the word "experienced" in the ad put you off, if they are still needing someone training him should not be an issue.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I never got a email notice? Anyways, there is no web site. You can zoom in on google satellite view to see pretty much what the park is like. It is a no frills park convenient to the Medical Center. The owners are very diligent about low traffic and keeping the park peaceful. Even though we are in the city, it is very quiet and we have deer, raccoons, hawks and such. Currently cable is available for around $50 plus internet or you can get wifi near the top half of the park. OTA TV is spotchy, but doable. The only draw back is the life flight helicopters will interrupt OTA tv briefly, but for a very good cause. Although you really wont hear the traffic noise, you will hear ambulance sirens periodically.

Congrats! I am also an RN and am thinking of working per-diem after we retire next year. My hubby is from the SA area, so it will certainly be on our destinations list! Good luck!
