I am starting to think about buying a class a rv in order to full time with in the next year or two (I'm buying a lot quicker than that just not full time for at least a year). I will need to tow a Nissan Xterra. Does anyone have any strong opinions about brand and model that I should be looking at if the budget is under $30k. I would like something low miles and not sure whether I want diesel or gas. I would like to keep the size of the rv under 30 ft (for maneuverability purposes). I suppose that I should add that I am a complete novice at this and am learning from the ground floor but I WILL DO THIS..!! I am a photographer and what better way to expand the portfolio than to travel my britches off in an rv. Any suggestions..? Harry

first you will have to decide whether its diesel or gas.......then you will have to look at floor plans and climb in and out of so many coaches ,till your crazy in love with one that you keep going back to.........That will be the one!!!!!

If used, this book is a good place to start and is also available in a Kindle edition: www.amazon.com/Buying-Used-Motorhome-money-burned/dp/1479365386/ref=sr_1_2 You'll need to do a lot of reading on RVing anywhere you can find it. Any chance that you camp, maybe even in a tent to get you out among those that do have RVs? How far your RV shopping dollars goes depends somewhat on the area of the country you are in so look at ads online to get an idea of what is available.

Mike...I have looked at ads for several Safari Treks. How do you like yours? I particularly like the size of it. I think I prefer diesel because of engine life (even though diesel is high as a kite). How do you like your Trek? Harry

Cathy...thanks for the response. Buying power here in coastal Georgia is still pretty good. I'll check out the ebook..it should be of great help. Thanks again for the post... Harry

I love my Trek at the moment....they are designed to have the space of a 36 footer and are only 24 to 26 feet in the treks.
sometimes clearing the bed off in the morning before hitting the button to raise it is a PIA so I can go about my day.
but as far as a solo type unit it is great. The Bathroom is very large , the kitchen works well for me and the lounge area has more than enough space to move around without feeling closed in.
I have 100 gallons of fresh water and solar with 6 batteries and a 2k inverter so boondocking for long periods without running the generator is nice.
plenty of under storage....the body is single sheet Aircraft aluminum on the sides with a whole fiberglass nose and rear
I average 10 to 12 mpg (gasser) towing a small ford ranger PU..
this unit was a step down for me from a supreme select 45' DP....but for medical reasons and disabilities the change needed to happen if I wanted to continue on out here
there are a few out here for sale ...let me know if I can help.
this is a link to one just like mine mine is a 24'
