Mark, Bill's right! We are happily and safely at the Lakes. They were quite accommodating. Tomorrow, we call the Chevy dealer in Merced and get towed there. Thank you CoachNet!

Why does this happen to us on a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon? We were slightly diverted on our way to Tulare, CA to our next stop. Stopped right before a country road stop sigh and truck towing had no power. no warning lights on. He suspects bad fuel from the auxiliary tank. CoachNet says will take about two hours to get a truck big enough to tow truck and trailer. Found a great RV resort in Chowchilla that is within our tow range so we'll get towed there and tomorrow they'll come get the truck and tow it to Chevy dealer in Merced. DH thinks we'll get fixed tomorrow but having read about other's engine issues I'm guessing we might be here for a while. Thank goodness for our toad and my ipad!

Good luck Sherry, hope things turn out okay for you guys. Just be glad you are somewhere warm, just read the email from Americas Mailbox about all the snow in SD which is where I know you were originally headed this week. You dodged that "bullet"!!

Sorry to hear of your trouble. Hopefully it is something as simple as changing out the fuel filter and you are back on the road. We got out of SD in the nick of time. We left early Monday morning and later that afternoon they had 50+ mph winds at our old campground that damaged some of the rigs still there. Then Thursday night the snow hit. They were predicting 6"-10" but got over 2 feet! Here is a couple of photos one of my full time coworkers sent me from her back yard in Hill City.

Yes, we're really happy to be in warm and beautiful country. Read that email, Ruth, from Americas Mailbox! So glad we diverted South. The pictures are amazing. Chris, we do love the truck. Jesse had trouble pumping from auxiliary tank yesterday morning (pumped very slow) so he's guessing its a diesel fuel issue. We think that will be an easy fix, but we've read so many issues of other trucks as I said. We'll see.
Mark, once we find out about the truck and schedule we'll check with you. Visalia is only an hour away.

Dealer service manager diagnosed a defective fuel injector pump. Has to come from Michigan so it will be Friday at the very earliest that we can depart. Thanks to CoachNet insurance for "trip interruption" we're at this beautiful Golf resort with pool and hot tub. Thanks to our extended warranty on the truck most of the $2500. Estimated cost will be covered.
When we were at Flag City we were less than a mile from the Michael David winery so we stocked up on the Seven Zins and the Earthquake Zin. Life is tough! 😃 By the way, they have an amazing produce stand and cafe at the winery so if you're traveling that way, it's a great stop.

Sherry, This is the produce center of the universe. You can't swing a dead cat here in the valley without finding great fruits and vegetables. We seldom buy those items at the grocers. We have a guy that grows all kinds of lettuce who frequents the farmers market. Our strawberries are the best I ever ate. We pick 15 pounds of blueberries every year. We have two peach trees, one that produces early and one late. Two grape vines, one concord and one table grapes. We also have a lemon and an orange. I grow my own tomatoes every year and we swap with others for grapefruit and avocados. Life is good. Wife has learned to can so we don't have to eat it all at once.

Truck is supposed to be done this morning. Turns out a Chevy Dealer that sells 3 times as many trucks as they do cars is just a mile and a half from our current campground. They have been very proactive, tracking the part, keeping up posted and so we have our fingers crossed. We'll be driving it tonight to meet up with Ruth and Dale, a double good day! 😄
Now if I can just find a pharmacy that has the super flu shot in stock.

ps: what is a "super" flu shot versus regular? Does it contain Kryptonite?

The "super flu" shot protects against 4 different flu varieties instead of the usual 3. Only limited supplies are being distributed.

Found the shot today. Check. Jesse picked up the truck after it was "repaired" and drove it about 5 miles. Funny noises started and heavy blue smoke out the exhaust so he turned around to head back and it go worse. Pulled over and he called the dealer and they sent a tech. Tech finally was able to restart it but had to call a tow truck to bring it/him back. Shades of Howard and Ferg! Tech thought it was injectors stuck open. The'll start work in the morning, again. But we had a great, fun dinner with the NWEscapees. So good to get together with fellow dreamers.

Great to see you guys again at dinner tonight, thanks for waiting patiently as we fought our way through Modesto traffic (Ok, silly me, thinking I only needed to worry about CA traffic in the "big" cities). So much fun to share all the "newbie tales" of the first few months on the road. Not wanting to make you hurry on your journey, but I sure hope that truck gets fixed soon.

So we were going to have to have the 5th wheel towed to a different site today about 150 ft. away because The Lakes RV & Gold Resort manager said - she had a group coming in that had reserved this site, that they all want to be together, that the site we're in happened to be a handicapped site - when I asked her very nicely, I might add, on Friday if it was possible to call the group host to see if it would be an issue to change one site. Manager said she could not and indicated it was not open for discussion. This morning we went out and spoke to the group host who checked their reservations and said - they had one cancellation, that none of the members knew what site group host had assigned them to and it would be no problem having one take our new assigned site as it was still within their area. RV'ers are generally great! Thank you RoadRunners out of Stockton! So we canceled our tow. This is a very pretty park and the college kids on duty are great, manager, not so much.

Picked up truck on Tuesday afternoon after replacement of two fuel injectors. It's now running beautifully and we pulled from Chowchilla, CA to the Verde Valley in two long days. Enjoying the beautiful sunshine, huge moon and and great friends.
