Our next stop will be in Savannah Georgia. Might just have to stay there a couple weeks to take it all in. There isn't a whole bunch on RV Parks Review about the area so does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I know your a history buff Dave so you might enjoy where we stayed. Fort McAllister Historic State Park is just south of Savannah. It's heavily treed so you won't get satellite. I don't recall our site number but it was on the first loop and it was a site on the left that was a huge pull thru that would of fit 3 of us. We took a walk one night and there were glowing eyes staring back at us everywhere...lots of Raccoons. We really enjoyed it here and I think Savannah is still our most favourite city visited after more than 3 years on the road.
Safe travel!

Another place just came to mind in Georgia that may interest you guys if it's not already on your radar. In 2010 we wanted to do a boat swamp tour at Okefenokee Swamp Park but unfortuneatley there was a drought then so the boats were high and dry. They also have a train tour and a walking trail. Lots of alligators! We stayed at Laura S. Walker State Park at a lake front site #10 which is the best site IMO. (Howard and Linda have stayed here as well) It's kinda cool sitting in your site watching the occasional alligator float by!
safe travels!

There are several hidden Jems along Hiway 17 headed towards Richmond Hill.....if your into boondocking there is a park at the Ogeechee river bridge that is real nice and good for a nite or 2...its right next to Loves Seafood house......about 2 miles down from the Flea market and the Savannah interchange
Nice area.......I was a Flite Paramedic for Mercy hospital there and a Deputy Coroner for Bryan county(Richmond Hill & Hinesville).......
Richmond hill was originally the Henry Ford Plantation......the movie Glory was made there.....Very rich history in the region!!!!!
Enjoy your stay......you will keep going back!!!!

Hardeeville RV Park in Hardeeville South Carolina is very close to Savanna and is a decent place and reasonably priced.

We stayed at Skidaway Isl Campground last year it had a lot of big size spaces and very reasonable price. Up to date laundry & showers. It is also very close to Savannah if I rember its was about 15-20 mins away.
Where ever you stay hope you have a swell time.

Just an update,, we landed at Skidaway State Park just outside of Savannah. I think we could park 3 of or sized rigs in the spot we have and still have room for a couple cars. They have a shuttle that will run you into Savannah Friday and Saturday mornings at 9am and bring you back to the park at 4:30 if you want to avoid driving into town yourself.
Thanks again for the suggestions.
We will be here for a week and then on to St Augustine Florida I think.

There are several really good boondocking areas south on Hwy 17 (coastal Hwy) when you leave ,of course its only a short distance to Jax from there........that park is on the county line and the police dept in both directions is a good distance from there....there patrols normally dont go out that far because its in the county , pretty desolate and no coffee shops....(LOL)
P.S Be really careful around that area...alot of copperhead & Water mocs.. Fire ants....and a ton of Gators & boar hogs!!!(not joking)
It has been a few years since we stayed, but Whispering Pines in Rincon, http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Georgia/Rincon.html, was a decent place for a decent price for the area. It was close to I-95. Skidway Island State Park seems to be the preferred place in Savannah, http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Georgia/Rincon.html. If you don't mind the price, River's End Campground in Tybee Island, http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Georgia/Tybee_Island.html, is really nice.
