Here in Western Washington we're supposed to get up to 8 inches of rain thru Monday and higher winds predicted this afternoon! We're "supposed to" hit the road on Monday and head to Box Elder so I can get my SD driver's license. We are SO ready to be out of here.😄

Sherry,
We are leaving Box Elder Monday and although it looks like the sun may shine the temperatures are gonna be a little on the cool side. Doesn't look like freezing hoses will be a problem but bring your jacket! LOL
Phil
ps: our DL's only took us about 20 minutes total and 10 of that was waiting for our names to be called. Just make sure you have the America's Mailbox people check your paperwork before hand and it will be a breeze.

So glad we are no longer Western WA residents!! Of course, after being surrounded by all the Colorado flooding earlier this month, we are even more grateful that we no longer have to be in Western WA when rainy season hits. No more laying awake at night when the strong winds hit wondering which of our 23 trees is going to be the next one to go down or how many limbs will be scattered through the yard in the morning.
Sherry & Bill - stay safe - it's a good time to be leaving Western WA!

We just relocated from Minnesota to Sioux Falls a month age...thanks to Alternate Resources. Did have to go to the State for the DL but it took less than 20 minutes and half that due to the fellow in front of me not speaking English. Since then we have purchased a new truck and 5th wheel and saved 3.75% on state tax alone. Patrick/Linda

Hey guys:
Well, I guess we make a good call getting out of Dodge, or in this case getting off US-101 on the coast of Oregon, and headed south a day early.
In spite of that we still fought high winds and rains down I-5 from the Salem area and all the mountains into Mount Shasta, CA. No problems, rig ran just fine. Just burned ~20% more fuel than normal due to high head winds and rain. But it will be another interesting day tomorrow due to high wind warnings as we work our way SE into Reno and down US-395 into Nevada.
Loved the Pacific Northwest a lot, Washington and Oregon both, but it’s time to head for Arizona.
You guys batten down the hatches up there in Washington and Oregon.
Great to meet up with you!

Bill & Linda - good luck with the winds in Nevada. Went through the Reno area last weekend and yes, we burned through a LOT more fuel than normal. It was our first time driving through the Reno area, so not sure if that was normal.
We will be heading south at the end of October with plans to be in AZ by Nov 3, our first winter in AZ and really looking forward to it!!!

Bill & Linda and Dale & Ruth,
You were right to get out of Dodge early! Heard there was a truck with its trailer on its side on 101 today. Hope the people are o.k. Bill & Linda, you "guys" were great and we'll see you at spring rally if not sooner.
Bill and Diane, sorry we never caught up this time but hope to see you soon and genuinely sorry for the family issues keeping you here but you're great"kids"! Don't you love being called kids at this point in life?
Phil & Rudee, I had Jesse bring in my box of winter clothes from the basement this week and I loaded some in! I'm ready for cold, but trust me it's been mighty cool here in Arizona speak!
Patrick & Linda, that's what I understand, if you're there early with the right papers, it's a breeze.
So I came home tonight aching from a long full day at the office with lots of campers booking extensions and lots of folks are out of power in the area so while I worked the office I had to call out very-sick-with-a-cold Jesse to pump lots of propane in the rain every half an hour. Came home and cat had wet outside her box (we just spent <$300.00 treating her for a UTI infection and getting her cleared and we have a serious leak. It appears to be coming in from under our inside stairs not quite adjacent to the slide. The window above it has lots of condensation and is the only window in the house that way. Toppers over that slide and whole length felt dry. So after we get the MorRyde IS system in Elkhart (after Box Elder) we going to Dynamax for some serious looking around and fixing!
Jesse is in bed resting up. We may not leave Monday and I hope it's not the entire month of October spent in colder weather without sun!

Sherry - so sorry to hear about the leak. OK, so after our experience in Colorado, I can "sort of" laugh about rain, floods and evacuations. However, despite the stress, our rig worked exactly as expected, we got our truck back the night before the floods occurred enabling our escape when we were told to evacuate, we were both healthy and it was a short lived scare and stressful time.
Sounds like you guys might be in for a little more than expected. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Just saw a post on Facebook from one of our neighbors/friends from our old neighborhood and things sound a little scary with the winds that are kicking up and all the old growth trees in our former neighborhood. It's going to be a long weekend for the Pacific Northwest and all joking aside, while I'm happy we're gone, we're hoping for a safe outcome.

We found a leak we thought fixed was not, water drips down the corner of the toilet room vent right onto the shoulder of someone on the toilet. It is under a vent cover and only happens when in hard rain since it needs to pond on the roof. 3.56" of rain in Astoria OR, a record for the day and Olympia was not far behind so I know Elma was wet. We moved from under the trees to the clear area in the campground, with our slides away from the wind. Today the wind is going to be the main problem.
We had planned on going shopping in Astoria this weekend, but no way were we taking the bridge over. A cousin showed us a photo a friend took of the bridge yesterday afternoon, with the painting tents getting blown around from the paint project. We went to the local IGA and bought enough to get by.
We are caravanning with Diane's mother, so our schedule is not in our control. Diane's aunt, her mother's sister, is a local and we are getting a lot of visiting in. It will take us two days to get to Eugene, the intermediate stop is for another family visit. We have parts being shipped to the repair place in Eugene, so that is where we are headed and who knows how long we will be there. At least Eugene is south.

Very sorry to hear about the sickness, Jessie, and the leaks everyone else is having.Good to know Bill J. knows where his is.Water leaks can be notoriously hard to find and therefore actually fix.
Out little wind and rain adventure turned out just fine.Coming from Mt. Shasta, CA to Hawthorn, NV the winds were pushing 30 according to the reports. No problems with them for the rig. We had decided to go and made the trip with several “outs” if it got to where I wasn’t comfortable with the rig. That never happened so we just kept going. However, they did close US-395 from Reno to Carson City, NV to all high profile vehicles including RV’s.They had signs so they could close US-95 in NV to trucks, our route by the way, but they didn’t turn them on.Wx reports had the winds at about 29 with gusts beyond that occasionally. Not all that bad actually.
Saw two Class “C’s” on the side of the road with men on the roofs. One had lost his awning – weird – all the way around to the windshield. The other was dealing with moldings.
We meet with two people here in the campground who left the rim campground of the GC early due to high winds and were waiting out the storm in Oregon so they could return home.
Glad we got out and I’m really sorry you all haven’t – yet. Please be safe and check in.

Jesse's temp broke last night but I told manager that I'd be happy to work last day today but that I'd appreciate Jesse not going out in rain or working today. Wonderful manager said of course so he's doing a little better. We went to my granddaughter's statewide volleyball tournament last weekend near Kent and the whole team had colds, so in two days I had it then Jesse caught from me. It's just a cold, for crying out loud, but he still felt really lousy. He stayed in and we had so many people extending today as they are smart not to drive in this.
We were going to leave tomorrow but will take the day to pack up and be ready Tuesday morning as the predictions for tonight and tomorrow isn't much better.
Think I've narrowed down the leak to the lower left frame of the hallway window. I managed to photograph some drops last night and feel some moisture there. Linda, that is also the only window in our units that are not dual-paned because of the curvature of the walls so I'm guessing that's why the condensation on that one only. 4 people I talked to today in our park had leaks but most were only stepping outside if they had to. 😄
We had a group of 13 bikers and tents coming in today and the poor folks and chase van showed up miserable. One woman said, "No way I'm doing another night of this, I'm going to the hotel and if any of the other women coming in want to join me I'll be happy to share my room" and she left. We've loved our job here and our managers and got to know the owner and her BF. We've (O.K. "I've") learned there are difficult people people everywhere and the wife of one host was unbelievable but her husband sweet. We've learned a lot, met a bunch of great people, and are ready to move on. We do want to come back to the Olympic Peninsula in two years to tour on OUR schedule and get to the islands and Vancouver BC. We got a great, totally unexpected bonus as well as our final paycheck.
Bill glad you didn't go to Astoria. Kyra, could it just get on a plane and join you?
Ruth, kitty has a wonderful rubber mat outside her box that has little random indentations that I bought that captures litter and rare "mistakes" better than anything I've seen. Can remember the name or brand but it is great. Just hope the UTI isn't back.
What we're experiencing here in the Northwest is nothing like our friends had in Colorado.

Left Elma, WA yesterday morning headed S & E on 12 for Yakima, carefully drove thru rain then about 50 feet past sign that said White Pass 600 ft ahead and about 4,000 ft elevation a highway dept. truck pulled out directly in front of us and dropped a road closed sign and we're still not sure if it was because of snow (and it was just starting to accumulate on the side of the road) or possible road problems. It had just started to snow, maybe 3-5 minutes. Approximate 80 mile detour and came to Vancouver, WA just in time for a parents pre-volleyball game supper and then my granddaughters games.
This morning we get a text from great friends to check forecast in Rapid City. Winter storm forecast, so we're changing schedule and heading south. We'll reroute but still have to get to Elkhart to factory in the near future. We can postpone all other events but the leak which is quiet at the moment (no rain) is a serious concern.
We will be in AZ in November and again in January and hope to see lots of you there for a RV-Dreams mini get together. We may also go thru AZ now. Pulling out maps and up the weather channel.

We are in SUNNY Canyonville, OR at the fabulous Seven Feathers RV Resort and Casino. Gorgeous park and we learned last night that they allow dry docking for up to 5 nights near the casino if anyone going N or S on 5. They even provide shuttle service to the casino from there as well as from your individual site. It would be a great location for a 2015 Rally but maximum capacity in their clubhouse is only 72 for meetings.
