A few that come to mind are First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, some nice COE parks right on Lake Gaston a little Wast of Emporia and the whole Outer Banks area down in North Carolina.
All are within easy driving distance from Norfolk and you should be able to get some nice water front sites on the bay, the lake or on the ocean.
Hope this helps.

If you want to stay near Norfolk, there's North Landing State Park in Virginia Beach.

Thank you so much for the input. We,re not really sure if her schedule wil be medically clear enough to go very far so your suggestion sounds great/Patrick

I was on a Destroyer for several years and stopped in Norfolk enroute to "Gitmo" back in the mid sixtys........I wonder if some of the unique night spots are still near the D&S piers. Anyway, again thanks/Patrick
