My beautiful bride (The Frog Lady) and I started toying with the Idea that we wanted to get an RV a couple of years ago when we started a small business that we could take on the road and do part time out of it. The business is more of a hobby than anything, and I will retire from the Army in a few years. We still have five kids at home, but they will all soon be moving on in the next 7 years to the military or College themselves and we will start our adventures as "empty nesters". Somehow the Part time plan has taken on a life of its own and has morphed into the full time lifestyle plan and also become an obsession since we have started talking to others and looking into the lifestyle. We are both very spontaneous people that love the outdoors and neither feel we have roots anywhere to tie us down, so packing up and heading out will be easy. the only thing not easy is the wait.
The last few months have been eye opening since we started getting serious about what we wanted in a "road Home". We started looking at full timing in a toy hauler because of the garage, then that changed into a regular fifth wheel because we could do the business out of the basement and now we have decided on a diesel or gas pusher. Our time off has been devoted to the plans by reading, touring RV centers and talking to people in the NW Oregon area where we are from.
When time comes that the kids are out, we will sale the house and use the equity to buy our pusher.
neither one of us have much that we have that is a must keep except small items such as a few Christmas ornaments or some pictures, the rest will be sold in a month long estate sale and we will be off.
We are looking forward to spending the kids inheritance and enjoying the country with others, no yard or home maintenance, no daily job except for the occasional work camping and lots and lots of new friends!

We began our journey spontaneously. Just talked about it and the following month the house was on the market. We have never regretted the decision. We are coming up on our one year anniversary and are looking forward to many more. Keep your dreams alive and hopefully we will meet one day...... 'down the road'.

Hello, fellow Army guy I'm in a similar situation. I have to wait that is. Glad you said estate sale, I had not thought of that. I was thinking of getting a table at the Colorado Springs flea market. I was going to have the Army ship the stuff from Germany file my claim(of course) then start selling but the estate thing may get better results and advertise it on Craigslist.

First of all, thanks for your service to our country and to Serina for her sacrifices as you served. It isn't an easy thing for the family of military people. That's one reason I got out after one enlistment in the U.S. Army Security Agency.
