Our Norcold n821 has stopped freezing, and does a poor job of cooling. Where should I start troubleshooting? I'd rather replace the faulty part than buy a new refrigerator.
We are on AC power, nothing has really changed, it just stopped working as well. The juice in the door is not even that cold, and the freezer won't freeze. I'm not sure what else you need to help, but let me know.
Also I'm at work right now and won't be able to do testing on any suggestions until tonight.
there are alot of if's when you are not trained to trouble shoot it.....so if its getting cold at all I would suggest...(please note I am not there to troubleshoot it).....remove the inside thermometer control if there is one and conect the 2 wires on the control together and let the unit run over nite......if this cures the problem stop and pick up a new thermostat at a camper supply or just stop at an appliance store that has a repair service with the old one in hand and they will match it up!!!
2..make sure outside chimney is clear and on the roof check to make sure it is not blocked with leaves , pine needles...squirrel nuts or birds nests
at this point you would need someone to test the thermal cutouts on the burner tube assemblies and check for leaks in the system if the top 2 tests didnt work
also look inside the fridge compartment and make sure the thermal bulb or thermistor is not pulled away from the evaporator plate (this would be the wire or fine tube that goes back to the thermostat)

Thanks Bill and Mike!
I'll look at the things you mentioned Mike and get back.
Thanks Bill for the service manual, I didn't have one.

Update. Once it thawed itself out, it began working again. This leads me to think it was the thermistor was not pulled away from the evaporator plate. Maybe due to ice on the metal fins.

You can start with the service manual - http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/ncoldnnewnseries.pdf . More help - http://www.fixya.com/tags/norcold_n821_problems.
