Finally, the house has closed, the 3 art shows in July are in the books and we have the month of August to slowly meander our way to SD and set up our new domicile. So nice to finally sleep again, even forgot to set the alarm this AM, still woke up before I needed to start my work from home job, but just barely. I had forgotten what it was like to not wake up at 3 AM and have my mind whirling with everything we needed to get done.
Yep, finally starting to sink in that this is it!! Life in a 38 FT 5th wheel, no yard to mow, house cleaning can be done in less than an hour instead of taking all day, a few more things to organize and/or purge and finding out how simple life can be! Tonight Tazzy Kat led me on a walk as she chased the moths, no hurry, who cared if we covered the same patch of meadow 5 times, she was getting her exercise and I had nothing better to do than take a deep breath and be thankful to God that I am FREE!!
Looking forward to another good night of sleep as all the pressure, stress, etc. is fading away. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

It feels pretty good doesn't it !!! And you know what,, it even gets better and better as time goes on. For a while anyway then it does level. It's been 10 months for us now and I think I have hit the leveling out stage on the getting used to realizing we have all the freedom we want, not flat lined yet but leveling out.

It has been 11 months for us as well and there is nothing like the feeling of being free. I am so excited for you. Looking forward to meeting you.

Congratulations! I know how the stress is waiting first to get an acceptable offer and then the stress waiting for the closing hoping that it doesn't fall through. Our house sold in March after over a year on the market and after several offers that fell through. It is a real freeing to have it gone. We didn't wait for it to sell before we hit the road. We left shortly after we listed it. Enjoy you travels.

It will keep getting better!!!! The freedom in knowing that you can change any unwanted scenery just by turning the key to your home on wheels.

I'm a (retired) teacher, so I'm used to having the summers pretty much free. I turned in my keys 7 June, but since then I've driven over 5,000 miles (only about 1700 of which was in the MH). I'm finally done running all over the country and learning to sleep late. A couple of times we haven't gotten up until almost 7:00. Had I not retired, I would have started back to school on Monday, 29 July.

Kyra - saw your Facebook photos, you are just having way too much fun!! Just kidding, we're looking forward to getting the SD domicile things taken care of and then heading to California for a couple of art shows and some R&R in between.
For the rest of this year we'll be sticking to the Western half of the US, looking at Texas / Oklahoma next spring depending on which art shows Dale gets accepted into. I'll keep watching your FB posts to see when or if our paths might cross.

looking at art shows out texas way next spring too, maybe applying for Lubbock in April and attaching a couple of shows to it if I can get in. It will be interesting to watch your travels. My significant other retires the end of March, can't wait to hit the road!

Pheasantplucker - which show in Lubbock are you considering?? Lubbock would obviously be "on the way", or at least somewhat from AZ to TX.

Great !!
I had my epiphany eleven years ago when we first started out. We were in Russell Kansas and woke up to ice everywhere including I70.
After 18 years in NH driving down to MA everyday and driving on a lot of ice and snow, my first reaction was feeling terrible about having to get up and get on the road. Then I realized I didn't have to. I rolled over and went back to sleep, It felt wonderful. We stayed there two days waiting for the roads to clear.
I will always remember that time with a great deal of fondness.

We are planning domicile in SD as well, so please keep us posted on how that goes, what mail service you choose and why? The 'leveling out' time is very interesting to me. We are about 7 months away from putting our house on the market, and God willing, the sale will go quick.
