We're heading to The Springs at Borrego in early October. Wondering if anyone has traveled S-22 into Borrego Springs in a big rig. We're a 39' fiver and a F-350 long bed crew cab, about 58' overall. I'm concerned that S-22 may be a bit too tight and twisty. And there is a straighter alternate route. Thanks.

OK. Did everyone leave California???
Generally, there are at least a couple of folks familiar with California answering questions like this, so I'm surprised that there haven't been any answers for David's question.
Or, is it that S-22 and Borrego Springs is so far off the beaten path that no one goes there?
Maybe David needs to rethink whether the place would really be worth a visit, especially if there is nothing there.
(Just kidding, Folks, but David does deserve some kind of an answer.)

S22 from Salton City is OK, a little lumpy for the first few miles but generally a decent two lane road, not too curvy. Can't speak going west from Borrego Springs, but I imagine from the map it's pretty curvy.

I've never travelled that route with the 5th wheel but have used it several times in my 4X4 on the way to and from offroad races.
It's a nice two lane road with wide lanes but does have some curves. It is lightly travelled which allows you to use both lanes if needed.
Just take your time and you'll be fine.
One in a while there is a speed trap near the junction of S2 and S22. The Highway patrol use an airplane and cars in this area.
