Joined the Senior class this AM. Now I can officially qualify for early SS; get some reduced fee National; State park passes. I can even go to eateries, museums, and many others at discounted prices. Crossed another milestone in my lifetime!!!
I never did drugs, quit drinking alcohol 25 yrs back, quit smoking last March. I am starting to feel like a upright citizen...at least standing on my feet; that is.
So now what????

Happy Birthday and Congratulations! I remember when I was young and the kids were small thinking that everything was backwards, seniors shouldn't get all those discounts, after all their homes are paid for or close to it, their kids have grown and left, and hopefully they'd put away money for their retirement. I thought at the time that anyone with children living at home should be the ones who got discounts.
However..... now that I'm getting closer to that magic age I'm all for it! I was a bit taken aback a few years ago when an AARP card came in the mail. Sort of a visible reminder that I was getting "old". I stuck it in my wallet and a few days later was picking up my new glasses - the first bifocals, also another sign of getting "old" and something I had put off for several years - when they asked if I had an AARP card. Turns out they give you a 30% off discount if you have one! Wow! For a $16 a year membership fee I had just saved over $150!
I still have to pay full price for my National Parks pass and many other things, but I'm now definitely in favor if it and looking forward to it. So now what? Get out there and enjoy it!!

Happy belated birthday!!
I love your embracement on the "SC" arrival. I have been fighting it at 46 for the past year: My eye doc told me that since I was over 40 at any time I could get bifocals...I told him he lost his flipping mind!! I now get my magazines in the mail and throw them on the floor to read, have reader glasses to see my rice package. (I make the same amount of rice 2x a week... I should know the ratio by heart). Not to mention wandering around the house trying to remember what I got up for or standing in front of open fridge trying to remember what I went in there for.
Hope you had a wonderful birthday and many more to come!!
